| whats up with Applebees?? Last night the wife and I went to Applebees to eat! At 6:00 pm there was a 15-20 minutes wait to be seated. Well I kinda expected this at this time but to my surprise there was 6-8 tables vacant at the time we walked in. In the Waiting area there was probably 15 people waiting to be sat down. We stood there for a good 10 minutes while the waitress continued to tell people 15-20 minute wait. another 5 minutes went by and still there were 6-8 tables open and clean. We got sat down shortly after that and continued to watch open tables sit vacant as people were standing and eventually leaving due to this situation. Applebees, what is the problem? Making patrons wait while there are open tables? I wasn't aware business was good enough to piss off people in this way.     |

| Was it anything related to a smoking/non-smoking issue?

| Maybe the server for those tables was not there yet, or didn't show.

| Well, if I was management and there were open seats and customers cooling their heels in the lobby, I b'lieve I'd be for puttin' on an apron and gettin' ta work!

| I have had this happen at Red Lobster and Olive Garden. I asked several years ago what and why. I was told that while the tables are open, only one waiter or waitress per every three tables. So the tables can be open and will remain open until they have enough people to cover them. Not such a bad policy if you are looking for hot food and good service at your table. |

| No, but management has to realize they're pissin' off payin' customers if they don't put butts in those seats. I still would be for workin' just a bit harder if I were the manager....
