Every restaurant or retail store or any place of business at that, sucks at times! Wouldn't it be wonderful if this was a perfect world and no one had bad service or a bad visit to any business...EVER!!!

Two obvious choices:

1. Relax at the bar, have a drink & wait the 15 minutes for a hot meal.
2. Demand to be seated in those "vacant" tables, receive $hitty service, then post about "Why is the service so slow @ Applebees??"...

That's the status quo at Applebees.

Ooops I did it again....

Being a glutton for punishment I let the wifey drag me to "the bee's" for lunch. (Actually it was my idea but not going to take credit) The place was maybe 10% full, not a lot of people there. He set us at a booth and we sat there for about 10 minutes with no server stopping to see us. I finally grabbed a host and asked him to bring us a couple of ice tea's. We waited another 5 minutes or so and some guy came over and said, "I guess i'm your server today. The girl that is supposed to take this table is busy". Right there I felt like he didn't want to wait on us. My dinner came w/o the gravy and bread. I asked for the gravy and he brought out luke warm gravy. I had to ask for a refill on my drink. The whole damned experience sucked. I looked around for a manager but didn't see one the entire time I was there. The servers shouldn't be fired the managers that train them should be. I swore off Applebees for 90 days after lunch today. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I can't wait for the casino to come and some new places to eat come to town. A chili's with some good management would put this applebees out of business so fast it wouldn't be funny. People will always eat there because of lack of choice but once there are choices...gooood luck Applebees.

macdaddy has obviously never worked in a restaurant. I would much rather wait 10, 15, 20 minutes for a table that actually has a server working at it, than be immediately seated at a nice clean table where I wouldn't get any service at all.

Okay...I've been in town for a little over a year and I've never seen a town have so much trouble with staffing. I manage a business here in town and have talked to several other managers who also have issues. You got folks coming in to apply and saying "I really need a job." then stop showing up for work. The employees in the restaurants here just move around all the time. I see lots of my ex employees at other businesses.

You seem so quick to put the entire blame on the managers and out of the staff's hands. Do you want a manager to be with each staff member the entire time? I've never worked with employees who could give a damn about what they are supposed to do. Now, I'm not saying there are some great employees out there...cause there are. Wish I could clone some of them.

You want more choices in town...but where the heck do you think the staff is going to come from?? There aren't enough employees to staff the restaurants we have in town now.

I was trying to avoid voicing my opinion on here, cause I have a new motto this year.... Shut Up on Move On. If you don't like it, then stop giving that business your $.

If you have a problem with a business here in town..then call and talk to that General Manager of that business. Not come on to a message board and moan and complain.

That's a good point and that's what we do...it's just every 60 or 90 days we go back and see if there has been a change.

I did call the assistant manager today and voice my opinion. What can she do? She said their wait staff is trained by "experts"....

Everything that happens good or bad at your business falls on the manager's shoulders. If you have a crappy employee and you allow that person to do what they do to be unprofessional it all falls back on you. The staff will get away with what they are allowed to get away with. I have been to Applebees MANY times and could write pages of the things I see happen there.

There are good servers there and when I have one I let them know that they rock. The thing with running a dining establishment is quality control...which MEANS THE MANAGER CHECKING SH*T. If a steak comes out cooked wrong once blame it on the kitchen. If it happens over and over then it's a quality control issue that goes BACK TO THE MANAGER. Take responsibility for your business, that would be a first step.

If I voice a complaint to the manager and he immediately blames his workers...well right there I know where the problem is...Lack of responsibility and accountability.
