Hummmm

In a controversial ad that's sending his libertarian fans into orbit, Paul proposes tough new immigration policies, including denying visas to Muslim students from terrorist states.

Yet in a little-noticed 2005 deal struck between President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah, 21,000 young Saudi men will gain U.S. student visas by 2009. The program is supposed to heal the wound left by the 15 Saudi hijackers by promoting cultural exchange and understanding. Abdullah promises the new wave of Saudi students will be on their best behavior and allay our suspicions.

A MUST READ

If it weren't for those people coming from Saudi and India to go to schoo and such we wouldn't have a lot of our Doctors and Specialists.

The idea of denying visa's to any muslim from a terrorist country is ridiculous. There are lots of good people from Saudi, Iran and other countries that want to come here to learn. That is a knee jerk reaction and while it may be a "populist' stance it's not worth the time reading or thinking about because it will not happen.

Yep, I agree. And knee-jerks usually come to light. Usually too late, but they do come to light.

The same thing (knee jerk) happened when we (the federal government) paid millions of $ to the families of the victims of the World Trade Center. We don't pay nearly that much to families of 'victims' (soldiers) at war. If the government was going to step in and pay anything to those families (I'm not stepping on either side, here, just ranting), it should have been the same stipend allowed soldiers at war. I'm looking at it now and wondering what the hell? But I didn't think about it at the time - I just wanted to dry tears and make it all better, as I think almost everybody did. And that was knee-jerk.

Alot of good people have to suffer the consequences because of the actions of bad people.

When you were in basic training, was there ever a time that one of the troops fu*ked up and the whole platoon suffered for it ?

We can't as a nation keep doing the same things expecting different results.

IMHO ...its time for some "NEW RULES"

I agree we need new rules but I guess we disagree on what rules. I don't believe you should trample the rights or opportunities for those who are guilty of nothing. Being a Muslim should not make you a terrorist nor a criminal. There are tons of people that come here to go to school or come here to work all from the middle east (some terrorist countries) and contribute great things to our society. You would ban these people just because they are muslim and come from say...Saudi Arabia?

Im only trying to express my thinking on it.

I gave the basic training example because that "punishment" has been used for just about everything and its pretty effective..

for instance

Back in the dinosaur days when I went to school....... Lets say we had a field trip planned and everyone is so excited.. Then little Billy Badass does something stupid, and he is warned, but he does it again. Then the teacher has his or her fill and announces " OK class....no field trip and you can blame Little Billy Badass"........ Class does not get mad at the teacher, Class does not get mad at the school...... but Little Billy Badass is thoroughly chastised and shunned by the class. He aint a happy camper. But the next field trip that is scheduled ....Little Billy Badass turns into Little Billy Angel.

So applying that I just wonder if the Good Muslims will get sick and tired of losing their privileges and do something about the bad boys. I don't see them doing anything about the terrorism if everything is business as usual.

No its not fair................ but as you know .....Life ain't fair

A jury of your peers works in alot of situations. I know its not gonna happen, but political correctness ain't working .

Taking away a field trip doesn't discriminate against the kids race or religion.

So when Timothy McVey blew up the A.P. Murrah building in Oklahoma should we have rounded up all white christians and questioned them?

Should we arrest all Catholic Priests because of few of them like little boys or do we just (try to) punish the guilty ones?
