"The more I study science, the more I believe in God." Albert Einstein

I find that quote amazing coming from a genius/scientist.

Don't overlook the rest of the Einstein quotes--

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly."

Albert Einstein

Difference between religious beliefs and religions of man is always confusing -- man-made religious structures, books, beliefs, et al., are not the same as ultimate reality. They may point towards it, but to hold our viewpoints as the only truth is just wrong, and the basis for fundementilist terror and violence, whether Muslim, Christian or Hindu.

Since we're quoting Einstein

Quote:
He published a paper in Nature in 1940 entitled Science and Religion which gave his views on the subject.[55] In this he says that: "a person who is religiously enlightened appears to me to be one who has, to the best of his ability, liberated himself from the fetters of his selfish desires and is preoccupied with thoughts, feelings and aspirations to which he clings because of their super-personal value ... regardless of whether any attempt is made to unite this content with a Divine Being, for otherwise it would not be possible to count Buddha and Spinoza as religious personalities. Accordingly a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of the significance of those super-personal objects and goals which neither require nor are capable of rational foundation ... In this sense religion is the age-old endeavor of mankind to become clearly and completely conscious of these values and goals, and constantly to strengthen their effects." He argues that conflicts between science and religion "have all sprung from fatal errors." However "even though the realms of religion and science in themselves are clearly marked off from each other" there are "strong reciprocal relationships and dependencies" ... "science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind ... a legitimate conflict between science and religion cannot exist."
And for the record a "personal god" would be a god that is a personal being, a physical god that walked the earth like Apollo. The Christian God is impersonal.

Not trying to insinuate that Einstein was a religious man, only that he understood the connection and importance of Science and Religion.

Confused -- thought that Christians had a personal relationship

with their god ? Guess I've misunderstood? Of course, some branches seem to believe that their God walked the earth -- especially the oldest Hebrew versions (always love those stories of Him getting lost, eating with people, etc.), and those that believe that Rabbi Jesus was devine from start, and of course the Mormons.

"The finest emotion of which we are capable is the mystic emotion. Herein lies the germ of all art and all true science. Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of wonderment and lives in a state of fear is a dead man. To know that what is impenatrable for us really exists and manifests itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, whose gross forms alone are intelligible to our poor faculties - this knowledge, this feeling ... that is the core of the true religious sentiment. In this sense, and in this sense alone, I rank myself amoung profoundly religious men."

1) Obama dosent know what he is talking about, and he is way to Left.....

2) I WOULD NEVER! NEVER VOTE, OR NOT VOTE FOR SOMEBODY BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE! I mean c'mon people! This isnt the 1960's were African Americans were treated like crap! I look at him as a man, not an african american! And the US needs change... sooner or later the US WILL have a black president, a female president (hopefuly not hillary) or a president who isnt Christian/ Catholic, there in the futture be canidates that are different... and that is good

today being an a-fric-an american has not much dogma attached to it, as it use to. being a far left socialist speaks volumes. lord help us, if either one of the far left gets elected. most isms are controlled at the end of a SK-47. exception being captialism, and conservatism. phonics are fun.

And he looks at you as the "white sucker" that is gonna vote him in! I think the guy is very eloquent and likable, but he has alot of "black sheets" in his back ground. That scares me.
