Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Today we remember a great American that died fighting for equality and justice for all Americans. I happened across the following link that I wanted to share.

National Black Republican Association - DYK-Why MLK was a Republican

why must everything be turned into something political...for once can we just see things at eye level and not try to make it an "Us and Them" kind of thing.

How can you ignore politics when it comes to Martin Luther King? Civil rights was probably the biggest political struggle of the last century. A civil rights leader is by default a political leader. MLK may have been a good husband and father or whatever, but he is remembered for his political contributions as he worked to unite a divided country.

Easily...watch and learn.

MLK was a great man who helped to bring civil rights for all people.

I see through what you're trying to do. If it was you you'd say "MLK was a great republican who helped to bring civil rights for all people."

IF he was republican or democrat or anything else it shouldn't matter. He is known for what he did...not what party he aligned himself with.

Well, that's a fine explanation if your intent is to whitewash and sanitize history.

It’s not so much which party King aligned himself with as it is which party aligned itself against him and blacks in general.

It's not about whitewashing anything. IF you want to TRY and make it seem that way then, that again is up to you. Again I still see through what you're trying to say here and I hope others see it too.

Again let's try and make everything political. Hell i bet if i said I liked Vanilla ice cream over chocolate, you could probably find someway to promote your party over any other one.

Lots of people sleep in church - why is this such a big deal? He's not running and truth is he does have a lot on his plate. I guess I just think other things are more newsworthy than this. Seems kinda dumb and petty to me.

Bless his heart. I feel sorry kinda sorry for him after seeing that. He is a human after all, and in his 60's.

I really don't see how any of the candidates can keep the pace they are "racing" on, without passing out. Even the younger ones.

Its a brutal schedule.

All the necessary bodily functions cannot be ignored for long.
