GameStop - Don't Stop There!

I know this happened in Garden City, but I want everybody to be aware!

GameStop in Garden City, in case you don't know is a place where you can buy video games and consoles, etc.
My son was given a game for Christmas that he had already. Most gifts are given without receipts, so I tried to take the game back without a receipt. The guy told me I needed one before they would even consider exchanging the game. So I hunted down the person that gave the present, and asked them to please find the receipt. Mind you, these games are at least 50$. So the person that gave the game, found the receipt, and I made the hour trip back over to Garden City only to have the kid behind the counter tell me that it's too late to return it. Apparently the return policy allows 7 days to return games, but around Christmas time it was extended to 30 days. Well that's kind of tough when the person purchased the game in advance, and we got it at Christmas. Anyways, the kid says they will do a trade in of 10$. I don't think so! I'm not about to give back a 50$ game for 10$! Then to top it all off, the kid said had I called them, they would have exchanged it for me! You've got to be kidding right? I had came in the store a few days earlier. So.....I get the number to Customer Service, nobody there can help me. So I get the number to the district manager. I called and left 5 messages over the course of a week. I have not received a call back.

I just want everybody to know my story there, and sorry if it's kind of vent-ish! So if you like video games, go to Hastings, Target,...wherever!
Just avoid GameStop, because you will not get treated properly...

Now that is the best customer service I have ever heard of. If they can get a $50 game for $10 they are screwing everyone. I would call the district manager 10 times a day until he either answers or calls me back.

So it's not like you want your money back to spend in another store, right? Some people have no idea about customer service. As long as it isn't going to break the retailer's back, he damn sure needs to make sure his customers are happy. Pissed off customers talk, happy ones don't. I'd lots rather not have any talk than bad talk about my business.

What are the numbers to call?

You might get ans answer if they start getting calls from a lot of people telling them they aren't going to be doing business with them until this is resolved. Oh and callers should mention that they will be encouraging others to do the same thing.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I was going to stop in there the next time I was in Garden but with customer service like that I won't be going there!
