| I was raised in Dodge and spent about 10 of my adult years in Cimarron. The schools are fabulous over there. The people are the most friendly you'll ever meet. Dodge wasn't so bad when I lived there. Heck, I'd give it another try if I didn't have a job here. Lots of friends still there.
If you're used to a small area, you might find a great home in Cimarron. Homes to rent aren't plentiful there, but contact Bob or Pat Culver and they'll give you a hand with it. Honestly, that would probably be my first stop in southwestern Kansas, simply because it's located halfway between Dodge and Garden. Then you can take your time and find out for yourself which you like better.
It is small, though. But to ride your ATV? There's all kinds of space over there! In Dodge (or Cimarron), you'll be within 4 hours of Wichita and about 6hours of Kansas City. Denver's about the same as Kansas City, maybe less.
Life is a little slower there. I don't think there's a real rush hour except in school areas. The crime.....there are gangs almost everywhere now. Cimarron isn't any different. They seem to be more successful in keeping it cleaner, though. Probably because it's smaller. But they have their own set of problems with them. In reading the website for Cimarron, there doesn't seem to have been a murder there since the one that happened when I lived there. Gosh that was a long time ago! Still miss that ol' place.....
Whatever your decision is, take your time to "settle". It's hard to take a resident's word for it. I'm sure the Garden City folks would rather have you there. Good luck! Stay in touch with us if you have questions!
