I've always like Dodge City more than Garden City on a personal level. Having said that I'm sure you are going to hear all about the lower taxes etc. in Garden City and that's good too. As far as things to do and the people I think they are similar.

Welcome!!!!!!!!! You've asked a very good question! Dodgers will say here and Gardners will say there.
I think Garden has a larger populaltion, but not by much, and they're very comparable in just about every aspect.

It's worth your while to ck both cities out before you move

Where are you moving from?? That would help us a lot in preparing you for any culture shock.

p.s. We're hoping for a Casino here in the far future!

I currently live in Dodge, but have lived in Garden as well. There are a lot of factors that you need to think about. You need to find out what is most important for you and your family when you move. I have mixed feelings on which city is better. I had a great job in Garden and would still be there, but I got married and a better job in Dodge. Let us know what you are looking for and hopefully we can give you the information that you are looking for.

As far as the schools go I will let someone who has kids in the school handle that. Jobs depends on what you are looking for. You can always find a house to live in, just depends on what you are looking for and what you are willing to pay. If you are from Michigan our winters should not even compare to yours.

Dodge City has: Wal Mart, Applebees, JC Penney in what we call a mall(it is enclosed), the mall also has a Foot Locker, Hibbett Sporting Goods, a Sears Catalog Store(not a real Sears). Dodge City hopes to have a Casino in the next 2-4+ years, if they can get the utilities upgraded to handle it. Also, a Special Event Center, that has yet to be built, but was voted for around 10 years ago.

Garden City has: Wal-Mart, Target, a real Sears store, JC Penney, Home Depot, Sam's Club(to be completed by end of this year or before), Applebees, Lone Star Steakhouse.
