This is what I never understood about the Marchell Ranch anyways; I never understood why they spent all this money on this business anyway. I mean we have a Rodeo, Boothill, ect...why did we need all this? In Dodge City?

When they first started out, they had a good show and got lots of people out. Then they got into the restaurant business and it got worse. Finally, they opened that coffee shop downtown, and everything suffered. Managers, they were not.

I went to a state conference in Dodge a few years back and the entertainment one night was a meal and show at the Marchel Ranch. We had a lot of fun and it seemed like a pretty cool place. Sorry to see it decline like it did. One thing I saw odd in the pictures was that the beds are still there. Maybe somebody left too fast to even take them. That will make a nice home for somebody.

I wonder too, Kodiak. Maybe someone who attended the auction will clue us in. Anyone know?

I have only been in DC for about a year, so someone please tell me who Carl Leatherwood is? What are his plans for the ranch?

Strong,

Leatherwood is a livestock breeder who has a ranch near Cimmaron. He's been in business for years and deals in specialized cattle. He might possibly re-locate his ranch, by the sound of it. Good luck to him!

Carl's a great guy - the family is a good one. You would like him if you met him. I'm glad the ranch is being purchased by someone who intends to keep ownership of it local.

Casey had money in it when it went broke. I think he wanted out. Also, with his recent purchase, he might be getting a little strapped. This is just my guess.
