Nobody could talk him out of it. She systematically separated him from all his friends, saying they weren't "good enough".

This is classic controlling behavior usually seen in domestic violence centers stemming from the husband. Maybe he didn't "heel" enough for her.
Did you son's self-esteem also go south?

Splitting up any union is such a difficult, stressing thing. I do understand protecting your son. Course it's harder on them than you. These are the parents of your grandchild and there needs to be some respect and decorum for both. You might feel he is "rolling over" he might feel there is no need to be hateful. Be careful.

I have never had to do this with my boys but have gone this route myself. I find it much easier to move on when I don't have to work thru the anger. After all - what's the point if someone is unhappy? Doesn't really matter how they got that way - just matters how it winds up - especially for the child.

His mother-in-law was caught off guard too. He talks to her every day. Even talks to his father-in-law. I understand I'm hearing most of it from him, but also it's from seeing what's been going on. He's still driving a piece of junk that she brought into the marriage - the new Jeep is still in her possession. He's thinking that if he just leaves her alone and doesn't do anything to irritate her, then she'll come around. She already thinks (I know from past conversations with her) that he's way too passive - she will want some sort of action from him. I haven't figured out what, but I'm sure that's what she's waiting for. And the baby's still here. With him. I don't mind - I'm a pretty good grammy, if I do say so myself! Son kinda got huffy with me tonite over the ice cream. So I'm gonna have to watch my P's and Q's, else he won't leave me alone with him!

This just isn't a good thing. I am trying really hard to see both sides, but every time I try to look at it from sonny's side, all I see is the spiteful face she showed me Sunday when I suggested it might be more money-conscious for him to stay here with us instead of renting another apartment/house. That's when she announced she wanted everything of his out. When sonny-boy brought the baby over with him when he "moved back in", he brought a whole bag of the baby's toys. She doesn't want anything of the baby's there, but will take him every other weekend. It's just odd. Odd. I can't figure it out and I can't help feeling like she's not telling me something. And for sonny boy's sake, I'm not talking crap on her - if they reconcile, and I've talked bad about her, how often do you think I'll see the grandson? Yep, that's just what I was thinkin'.....

So she kept the house but he has the baby? Seems odd. However, at least he has the kid. That seems more important at the moment. Poor tot. At least he has a nice gramma.

She has got someone else in mind or is seeing them already.

Yep, she's got the house and the new car. But he got the prize.

That’s really a sweet deal KC.

She kicks him and the kid out and keeps the newest car. Sonny boy might just get custody and a generous child support award over that little stunt.

If they are both co-signers on the mortgage...and she defaults ...they will come after him... even if he signs a quit claim deed...

Trust me

Good point JW. Best to get that attorney on this right away.

If she wants to stay, she needs to pay.
