[quote=Bubba;68357]You must really like crap!! You are buying it 2 loaves at a time!

From the Ironkids website....

IronKids is not your ordinary white bread. Similarly, the company that makes it, Sara Lee , is far from conventional. An innovative company steeped in tradition and excellence, Sara Lee Food and Beverage has all the right ingredients for success, including freshness, health, quality, value, variety, and taste.
I don't eat, just saying I bought it the other day. Either way 9/10 I will go purchase from a bread store that sells real bread with real character over sandwich bread which is only good for grilled cheeses and pb+j's.

at the local Kroger (Dillons) today, Sare Lee whole wheat 2.39 a loaf, Wonder 2 loaves for $4, some other brand of white bread was $1.09 a loaf. Never could find the the 3 dollar bread someone said it cost on here. Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Just remember that the cheap crap doesn't keep as long because it dosen't have all the perservatives(chemicals) in it, but all of it is full of rat chit and weevil killer! OK, who is fixing sandwiches tonight? Nothin says lovin, like something from the oven.

Kinda right. The Sara Lee whole wheat white bread that is normally 3.29 a loaf is on sale with your plus card for 2.39 a loaf. Also, the Sara Lee whole wheat with Honey is on sale, with a plus card, for 2.39. The Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat bread is not on sale and I was wrong on it's regular price, it is at 3.09 a loaf.

Sara Lee 100% whole wheat emphasizes the fact that theirs is 100% whole wheat whereas other whole wheat bread can be as little as 20% wheat. Does anybody know if the whole wheat white bread that is on sale is made with 100% whole wheat?

It is made with 100% White Whole Wheat. They use the white wheat instead of the red winter wheat.

Ummmm.....I'm just not livin' right. We buy the cheaper wheat bread from Hen House. It, too, only lasts about 2 days. We finally decided we needed to bring it home, divide it into four bags and freeze three of them. It's pretty good bread. To me, bread is bread. One might taste a little different from another, but unless it's homemade, it's just something to hold the sandwich meat with.

I don't eat sandwiches that much, but I do have one slice of bread with my lunch and one slice of bread with my supper. I eat it plain so the flavor of the bread is a little more important to me so that is why I stay away from the cheap brands.

You Can Tell How Fresh the Bread is By the Color of the Twist or Plastic Tab Used to Hold it Closed...

Quote:
Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And each day has a different color twist tie. They are:

Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday - Yellow

I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers do have different colored twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday!!

So today being Thursday, I wanted a red twist tie - not white which is Friday (almost a week old?)

The colors go alphabetically Blue - Green - Red - White -Yellow, Monday thru Saturday. Very easy to remember. But I put a post-it note in my wallet when I first found out about this so I would not forget. Enjoy fresh bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.
