| Having to say goodbye Today, for the second time in two years, I had to say goodbye to a beloved friend. 14 years ago, Macy entered into my wife’s life. Having been diagnosed with a debilitating disease and having to quit college due to it, Macy was a welcome companion at a time when life had dealt a horrible blow. Her fiery red hair, white muzzle and white “boots” made her stick out but it was her personality that really shined. She was loved like a child and treated like a queen. She never left my wife’s side since the day she entered her world. When my wife and I got together she became a member of my family, and never for a moment were there any regrets. She made it clear from the beginning that she was royalty and I submitted to her charm. I loved her as if she were my own. The years had taken their toll on her. Riddled with arthritis, just getting up became a chore. When times were hard for her, my wife or I would pick her up so she could walk. She refused to be carried, it seemed that to do so would be undignified. She would go into the yard were she would lay under one of the trees and just bask in the sun, or hold her head up in the breeze. You could almost read in her eyes the memory of being able to run as she watched the other dogs as they played. You could swear that she actually giggled as she would try and run away from you when you called her, playing her version of “catch me if you can”. We would just walk after her knowing she would only go to the edge of the yard before turning around and walking back to us. I knew she was smiling, because I always was. Sadly, today the decision was made that my wife had been dreading. A serious heart condition was more than Macy could bear. While we made sure that she never was in any pain, there was no more we would be able to do. While saying her last goodbye, she cradled Macy in her arms as she drew her last breath. She now runs through the greenest of fields, chasing the butterflies she used to when younger. I will miss my dear friend.

| "Good friends" are hard to replace- Cherish the memories. She was blessed to have good companions who loved her dearly.

| I was touched by the pics. She was truly a beautiful dog. The pics will help keep her memory alive. I am facing such an ordeal and not looking forward to it one bit.

| Hope that all your cherished memories you and your wife had with your Macy, help you during this time. Losing a pet, that has been forever by your side, is like losing your child. It's never easy to say goodbye. Keep remembering all the wonderful moments you had with her and they will help ease your sorrow. And know that your friends here, will be forever with you.
