Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago?

I don't know how to answer this question. I'm making less and paying more for things - that's not good. But I don't feel like it's politcal; I'm making less because of an elective employment change, but I'm working less too. I'm paying more in higher prices (and higher property taxes) - but have less bills because I am no longer in debt. So I guess I am better off - I have a lot more toys and free time than I did 8 years ago and I have no debt. I'm having much more fun, that's for sure!!

Hell I am doing lots better financially, and mentally. Life has been much simpler for me since I quit living the night life and grew up. I have more money in my pocket as well.

I am better off now. I can't remember a president who ever "got me a job". I make my own breaks and my own opportunities. Yes, gas prices etc. are up. But I make adjustments.

I'm definitely better off. 8 years ago, I was a single mother of two - one in high school and the other in college. Now, I'm married, both kids are grown, my jobs have increased in responsibility and money. And I have the sweetest little grandson you could ask for. I'm the opposite of you, Tee - I have more jingle in the pocket, but less time to play.

I'm doing much better financially wise. I make more and am now saving/investing more than I ever have and for me the gov't has some to do with the amount of pay raise/benefits I receive for my job.

But as I read some of the posts on here where people are not better off I have to ask myself is it something ANY president (dem or repub) can control?

A president doesn't control if you decide to have kids or not or how many. A president doesn't decide your financial decisions like buying a car you can't afford or taking out a loan on a house that you can't afford. A president doesn't control what job or career path you choose or even if you go to college. A president doesn't control your savings rate. A president doesn't control if you get married or divorced...just to name a few things.....
