Child Abuse???

I say NO.
I saw something yesterday that I wanted to share. Im sure there will be many different opinions about this, but that is what makes this place so interesting.
I drove down the main street of a very small town yesterday afternoon, and saw a boy aproximatly 11 or 12 standing on the corner holding a cardboard sign that said... "My name is XXXX. I got caught stealing and I want to go to prison." His mom sat close by in a lawn chair keeping an eye on the situation making sure he turn the sign as needed so everybody could get a good view as they drove by.
It is my opinion that this is great punishment. Im not saying a good swat wouldnt be a good idea, but these days some people just dont know when to stop, or when enough is enough. Anybody that has read " A Child Called It", knows what I am talking about.
Im thinking that this was the best punishment, and I doubt this boy will even think about stealing again without remembering how he felt standing on the corner holding a sign telling the whole world what he did.

I think more parents need to do something like that. I also am a firm believer that if children are acting up and being little sh*ts, they need a spanking. I'm not saying beat them until they're black and blue but a swat on the behind is needed.

The good part here is that the Parent is taking responsibility for raising her kid. Whether people agree with the punishment or not, at least she is trying to make her kid know the difference between right and wrong. The sad thing today, is that most Parents could give a crap about what is happening with their kid, and then they wonder why they turn out like they did!

I also feel that some judges need to hand down punishment like this. Instead of making kids pay a fine, which the parents will have to pay.
