So, gas prices... who thinks it's time to back off on the speed limit?

Everyone's complaining, except Army because of his portfolio, about the price of gas. So, instead of complaining maybe it's time we do something about it.

I've cut my highway driving back to 65mph no matter where I go and the gas I use has dropped noticeably.

I roll on 2 wheels when I can and have even pulled the bicycle out on occasion but if we back off on the speed it's going to save gas. I think going back to 55 woudl drive me nuts but I can live with 65.

Why the cheap shots? Damn. I don't like the high gas prices either and I have made some changes. I believe the prices effect us more in other ways than in filling up our cars. You can drive your scooter all you want but you are still going to pay higher prices for everything that's moved by a truck or that comes from a farm. (which is virtually everything)

I hear people compaining constantly about the price of gas then they get in the Dodge Ram Hemi pick up or SUV. To me that's ridiculous. Gas is not going to go down any time soon if ever...so the only thing a consumer can do is change their habits which is hard to do for some. JHM has a little car that gets great gas mileage. Words and Detector drive scooters. (I'm looking at them now)

Driving slower does save some gas but what we NEED is a major change in habit and lifestyle....Walking, riding a bike, carpooling, more public transportation etc. I wonder if bike sales have went up?

And for what it's worth Wordy (master of the cheap shot)..INSTEAD of complaining I DID something. When I purchased my last vehicle fuel economy was a very important part of my choice second only to safety. The cross over Honda I have now gets about 30 MPG on the HWY.

Raise it to 75. If I wanna save gas I'll buy a hybrid. Company pays for my gas.

I agree with that. If people want to pay for using more gas let them pay but don't make everyone drive slow.

The next thing you know they are going to take your choice away and outlaw SUV's or cars that fall below a certain MPG...that or tax the dog shit out of them.

Headed back to work on mine again today. I am dreading filling up although it's been since last year, I'm sure when I do, probably next week, It'll cost me a whopping $5. And then I'll probably need to fill up again next month.

Trade Vehicles

The wife wanted to trade our Monte Carlo off for a new Ford Crew. Didnt happen as I finally convinced her that since our Monte gets 37 unbelievable MPG, 28 in town, that as for now it would be a little stupid to trade down from 37 to 12 MPG.
