| Just a word of thanks
I wanted to extend a thank you to all the members of this board. I know that many times I take for granted the freedoms we have, freedom of speech being one of them. While there are many different views expressed on this board, and many heated arguments, it is that right to say whatever you wish that makes this board so good. By having the relative security of anonymity, many of us feel free to express our views that normally we wouldn’t in public. By having to wait for responses, it allows the discussion to continue without a constant “talking over” fest one sees on talk TV or radio. We may all not agree on things but in the end this board does usually make one think. It makes you look at a situation differently and, at least in my house and work, stirs up discussions and helps communicate. If you do not know a member personally, this board allows you to view their responses without bias. By the most part, the posts usually do not degrade into a pit of sludge. While you can definitely tell how some think and where their priorities are, one cannot argue that it leads to good debates. I know I look forward to reading new posts and enjoy responding to them if I feel it is necessary.
I guess with Memorial Day coming up, I felt it was important that I voice my thanks to all those who allowed me, and us, this privilege that we have. Each and every one of you, whether you feel what you post is important or not, are what make this city, state, even country as great as it is. I have truly enjoyed being a member of this board and community, and look forward to being one for many years to come.
