Tornados at Cedar Bluff Lake!

I came up to Cedar Bluff this weekend for our annual family reunion. Thursday, as we were heading up here a tornado came through just as we arrived at Cedar Bluff, we missed it as it went slightly north of the lake.

Tonite, as we were sitting down to eat (7 pm), cops came flying through here warning everyone to take cover. We went over to a house that was a friend of ours. They did not have a basement but they had a crawl space which was about 3 feet high. We watched the tornados go by us, one after another. THe tornados were preceded by hail the sixe of golfballs and the vehicles here are hurt bad. About 20 of us have been sitting in the dark with no electricity, under this house on buckets and cinder blocks for the past several hours as several tornados lined up to threaten our existence. It's been a crazy night here at Cedar Bluff Lake. We finally got our from under the house around 10 when it finally seemed like all was clear. Houses and barns are destroyed north around Brownell, and semi trucks are strewn into the ditch around I-70. At least four are overturned, some blocking the highway. We finally got to eat supper around 10, but it was cold because the electricity has been off since around 7:30. Poles are down everywhere and there still is no electricity. I am back to the camper now and I am typing this on my laptop in my camper which is on generator and tethered to my cdma phone for internet. Kids are finally in bed and things have quieted down but It's been a crazy night here!!!

Glad you are OK, Tee! It was a wicked night almost everywhere. As I type this, tornadoes and severe weather is still pelting the State. There are tornado warnings around Hutchinson and Yoder as I type this reply.

It is scary, as I passed your house this afternoon, I told my Wife that your camper was gone; and that you probably went to Cedar Bluff. Then when the storm warnings started hitting the air for up there, we both thought of you. The last time we camped up there, we witnessed the tornado that dropped near Trego Center and damaged the area.

Thank God you are OK, and I pray for the people that were affected by the storms the last few nights!

All I got was wind, dark clouds and a light show. A lot of folks weren’t so lucky.

I skirted several storms on Monday when I was up that way. Fortunately, there is not much population in NE Colorado, but it looked like a dirty thirties dust storm a couple of times.

I am up right now listening to thunder and wind here in Newton. No tornados though. Glad you are ok Tee!!!! Nothin new about tornados at family reunions though hahahahaha!!!
