If I got sent to the principal's office, I got a belt at home too. we used fists and not guns to settle matters. I broke several windows playing baseball or throwing newspapers, and paid my own money to fix each. Other parents disciplined me when I was out of line. The police never came - no-one I knew ever went to jail - other than BB rifles, we never carried a weapon. We all grew up with a sense of family, respect and values. I can't say that for much of our community in 2008.

Why? Because we've become so focused on our 'rights' that we've lost our community of people.
Things were more sane then, and I am glad that I grew up when I did. Couldn't agree more Clueless. I guess that "marks" us as the "old fogeys" now, and we can sit around and reminisce about the "good ol' days"! :p

I remember walking from my grandmothers house on 7th Street down to the C-Mart on Earp to play video games when I was 7 or 8 years old, by myself. Would you feel safe letting your kids do that today?
    nope

Does this mean we qualify to join one of the coffee groups? :D
We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box

I notice the folks that disagree weren’t around in the fifties or sixties and the ones that agree were.

I agree Highwayman. I can relate to all the examples even though I was only 2 in 1958.
