It looks closer to the truth than exaggeration too me.

That's because you are one of those who believes everything you read in your e-mail.

And that's just funny to me.

He is kind of a young whippersnapper, now, isn't he? I remember recess was on blacktop with painted lines for baseball or kickball. Now the little brats have manicured lawns.

I agree with you both. Wordy, good call. I'd rep you if I could but it won't let me. And KC Muffin, I will always dream of the snipe hunting that could've been... :)

I remember walking from my grandmothers house on 7th Street down to the C-Mart on Earp to play video games when I was 7 or 8 years old, by myself. Would you feel safe letting your kids do that today?

Wordy - I was in the 8th grade in 1958, and you can trust me - the 1958 answers are about 100% correct. Yeah, the 2008's are stretched - but overall, the difference between then and now is very, very wide.

If I got sent to the principal's office, I got a belt at home too. we used fists and not guns to settle matters. I broke several windows playing baseball or throwing newspapers, and paid my own money to fix each. Other parents disciplined me when I was out of line. The police never came - no-one I knew ever went to jail - other than BB rifles, we never carried a weapon. We all grew up with a sense of family, respect and values. I can't say that for much of our community in 2008.

Why? Because we've become so focused on our 'rights' that we've lost our community of people.
We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box
