    DodgeBoard Hydrogen Generator Project

I thought I'd start a new thread for this project. Here is the design I've decided to put together for testing. I want to make sure all parts are readily available from our local hardware stores.

I need some ideas as far as the container. I was thinking Plexiglas but I'm not sure now. The optimum operating temperature is around 160 degrees and that might be a bit hot for plastic. I'm planning to use 6 stainless steel wall socket plates with some type of separating, and alternate the positive and negative plates. They will be held together by 2 stainless steel all-thread about 1/8 inches apart.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I hope to present a working hydrogen generator on the board over the weekend.

So. I take it you don't want to go off of the plans for the one I found? It already has instructions and has been used in other vehicles.

Yup, the one I found is $67 and I have over half of that amount pledged already from myself and other Dodgeboard members.

If you would be willing to use it I will go ahead and order it. If other Dodgeboard members would like to help with the cost they can PM me.

President Obama has responded to our national debt spiralling out of control by calling for the creation of a Deficit Commission to find solutions to the problem. Coulter suggests The Deficit Commission's first recommendation should be "resign immediately Mr. President."

I will throw in a few dollars on the expense for whatever method you use
    Detector.
If alot contribute it wouldn't be much per person. If something will help to get us started to reduce or eliminate( better choice) our dependence on foreign oil...
Wow that would be A DREAM COME TRUE. :) The best part would be a big ole slap in the face of "TERRORIST" nations.....

I'm thinking there will need to be probably 2 forms of delivering the hydrogen to the engine. The one in the air intake would be for delivery during acceleration, and one would be needed for when the engine is at idol. I guess the one for idling wouldn't be necessary, but would be more efficient.

I'm thinking a radiator overflow tank would make a pretty niffty tank for the hydrogen generator. It's heat resistant and easy to work with.

Good point. But doesn't that intake air get sucked into the cylinders too? And if there's hydrogen in the air, then wouldn't it aid in combustion? Or, wouldn't you get more power from a hydrogen rich mixture of air vs just air? If so, then it would seem that it might result in a lighter foot, to which the end result would be less fuel usage.

I admit that I was extremely skeptical at first, but now that has turned to intrigue. I'll keep an open mind for the sake of the experiment, but I keep asking myself, "If it works, and it's this easy, then why aren't the car mfrs and everyone else doing it?" Do you know what you could make selling a car that gets 60 mpg?
