Pay Pal

The last two days, I've gotten several of the Emails I normally see when I use Paypal - it tells me the amount and who I paid. But I haven't bought/paid for anything. I looked at the address and it said *****@paypalinc.com. I thought that wasn't the right one, so I went to Paypal's address. They don't use the 'inc' in theirs. They're defiitely scams, but all the information in the email looked real. Almost made me go from there into "their" site and "correct" all my information. I wish people wouldn't f*ck with my mind like that. It just raises my blood pressure for nothing.

Pay Pal!

KC, I would be more concerned about what information that they DO have! I would contact your banks, the sights you have gotten items from etc. Just to make sure that these thief's can't use your information to buy things in your name! Just a thought!

I had to change my debit card password twice because I got scammed onto a fake bank site. It looked so real; these crooks are professionals.

You all should live by one rule when it comes to internet banking. They never ever send you email unless you requested something.

Yes I have been getting those Pay Pal emails too. I ignore them because someone was pulling this scam long ago.

I get that crap all the time. From Paypal, Ebay, Bank of America, and even banks I'm not a member of. The best thing to do, is never reply, or use a link within. Even if it seems real. If it is real, you'll more than likely get a message of some type when you log in to their site. When I get an apperent email from Paypal, especially if it's to the right address I use for them, I go directly to their site. If it's real, they'll ask the same thing when I log in.

If these crooks and scammers worked half as hard at a real job, they wouldn't need to steal!

It's called phishing and they prey upon people dropping their guard and entering their personal data. The way to handle it with paypal is to forward each fake paypal email you get to spoof@paypal.com and then delete the fradulent email.

I have the fraud reporting address of every company I do financial transactions online with. When I get a phishing attempt, I just forward it to the financial institution's fraud reporting system and let them handle it.

They have a way for you to report the fake websites like paypalinc on the security section of their website.

That's exactly what I did - it would just make life a lot easier if you didn't have to look twice at every Email. Oh, well, the junk filter caught them. I go into the junk area once in a while just to make sure something real isn't being caught. It's just frustrating.

If it's a real communication, they will always refer to you by your name "Dear Timothy Smith," and usually a partial account number.

The phishing scams always say "Dear valued member" or something like that.
