Fuel Prices.

Been hearing about a call for a "windfall profit" tax on oil companies. That's Big Brother at his best. So the bully takes from me and my big brother trounces on the bully. Takes some of his money to teach him his lesson.... and keeps it to spend on what pleases Big Brother...... nada for lurker....

So how much is Regular in SW Kansas? It's 2.13 as of today, here in Liberty, MO. It's kind of sad how that seems like such a bargain compared to where prices were a month ago. That bicycle is looking better and better all the time....

Sometimes I just don't know how good I have it!

When gas prices shot up the first time, Hubby made me buy an old VW (which most of you know has had some minor ailments, but is back and running strong now) to drive back and forth to work. Got hella better gas mileage for my 40-mile commute than my 2003 F150!! When gas prices shot up even more, the boss man (God bless his heart!!) told us than any of us that could, should work from home up to 3 days a week. I use a tank of gas in the VW (about 14 gallons) every 2 weeks. Never had it so good! So as not to put a horrendous drain on the American economy, I have vowed to spend the money from the gas saving on clothes. A girl just can't have too many!!!

preface: this has nothing to do with what you said....but!

I read something interesting today, emphasis on "interesting" so I'll just throw IT out there. Seems some people are purchasing ceramic space heaters that use electricity to offset some of the natural gas usage. Made sense to me, but.............!

I'm still working on the but part, I could use some help

Wink Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, BUT

now they're spending all the natural gas saving on clothes?

No. That's not it. I'll try again. They're probably spending the savings on their electric bill. Those little space heaters draw the juice! And they're not safe either. Besides, it's not a comfortable heat. Too dry. Too much static cling. Makes my hair stand on end.

OH! Now I know----they'll be spending the money they save on natural gas on getting their hair done!

How about;
….But is the cost of the heater offset by the fuel savings?

I’ve seen that in autos sometimes. Buy a new car to save gas and need to drive it 20 years to offset the cost with the fuel savings.

I have a nice stock of firewood on hand, thank you.

Part of the demand for Natural Gas has recently been for generation of electricity since coal was too dirty for the Green weenies; but it's the cheapest of the fossil fuels.

Hoarsewhisperer, where I live once a fireplace is converted to gas, it ain’t legal to change it back. Check your local codes if you are thinking about doing that.

Lurker, we probably shouldn’t get started on the political money that changed hands when Klinton declared a park on top of the world’s largest deposit of clean burning coal.
