Thinking about getting a puppy for my daughter...need advice..

My daughter will be turning 18 months old and I'm thinking about getting her a puppy.

It will be an indoor puppy but get to go outside also. I have a wooden privacy fence with a back yard the dog can play in.

    I have considered two dogs.

    A whippet and a doberman.

I am leaning towards the whippet but I don't know where the hell to find a whippet breeder. (the dog has to be papered) I love doby's but they are more work. It has to be a short haired dog that is smart and family friendly. Anyone here ever owned a whippet?

Poodles aren't recommended for little kids because they may snap at them if teased or surprised according to the breeders information. They are also high maintenance dogs....I want something that has short hair.

The FREE boxer has short hair. If you want papers on the boxer I can have them made up in just a couple of hours.

Come on Army, buy her a Papillon. Beautiful dogs, cept have long hair. We recently bought one to replace the one we had put down. You all would love a Papillon. Bill

so you wanna give her a doberman? Well, you read the material. Give her a pekinese....they're not short hair, but they're at least pretty.

I would not say a pain in the a**. He just needs a lot of attention.
