I went there 7th and 8th grade year, it was horrible during the warm months! At least they were nice enough to let us bring water to class! The principal when I went was Mrs. Johnson, everyone said she was a bear, but I had no problems with her. Maybe it helped that my grandparents were really good friends with her and Mr. Johnson, and their farms were only a few miles from each other....

I started to school at Sacred Heart in 1955! No air conditioning anywhere...home or school. Oh and it was two miles up hill to and from school.
Whew! Glad I got that all in!:wasted:

Made, I do not think that it was one CITY INSPECTOR that slowed down the Sacred Heart ac. I heard it was the State Fire Marshall. I also heard it was the State Historic Office. Regardless, these inspectors would not object to a project unless it did not meet the codes. The codes that are the minimum standards for health and safety. Did someone try to push a project through without following the codes? Without full consideration of minimum health and safety standards?

    Sr. Hennrietta was cool.
Uh uh - it ain't possible two of us survived!!!

Miss P was a sweetheart. My brother had a huge crush on her. Course, he was closer to her age than I was - he was a bit older than me. Sister Henrietta - Did she teach 7th Grade Geography? Or 6th? Sr. A? She was a softie. I just managed to escape the stick. She thought I was "gifted" :D ! Taught me to play the organ and all that. So much for that!! That was one of the things I never managed to get back after encephalitis. Some of the stuff is gone, but every now and then, you guys open up somethin' that's been lost for a while! Like this thread! It's so much fun to remember stuff I thought was gone!!

Ahh...Muffie. Speaking of keyboard lessons, you reminded me of Ellie Basgall. I took 10 years of piano/organ lessons from her. Some of my best memories were playing the organ in the choir loft. When you took it, was it the pipe organ, or the newer electric one? What a great teacher, imo. I completely forgot about my education from her. Which is quite sad as I use it still to this day. (Thinking about playing for Masses at Holy Spirit over in OP soon.) Good times...good times.

357, Mrs. Johnson was the principal while I was there too. To me, she was almost like a nun. She knew how to demand respect even without the habit or yardstick! But what a great lady and her husband Richard was great too!

I went to Sunnyside and everyone there was wonderful!!! I have many favs there including Mr. Kinkcade the principle.

Kind: Mrs Nichols I loved her

1st grade I think I had Mrs. Ramsour, but I am thinking Mrs Heinz as well.

2nd grade: Mrs Teufel, which was another favorite. She loved the Carpenters music as she was always playing it when I came to school.

3rd grade: Mrs. Coolbaugh, she was awesome, I loved her as well.

4th grade: Mrs. Yeager; she was not one of my favorites but I think it was because it was a combination class and not really her teaching or how she treated us. She was in a very bad accident before I had her and if I remember right that appeared to change her entire attitude.

5th grade: Mr. Bolmer had to be my favorite. He made teaching very interesting and we had this game called the Star Wars game that was great. He let us have cubicles and decorate them any way we wanted. He made learning very fun! I will never forget Mr. Bolmer and he will never forget me. What is funny is he still drives the same car he had when I went to school in 5th grade. hahahaha!!!

6th grade mrs. Ferguson. I also like Mrs. Gail Ferguson. She was down to earth and treated the students like her own. I only had her for a few months though as she went on maturnity leave for along time. After that we had Mrs Kirchmer who was a neat individual as well. It was kind of weird though as her daughter was in the class.

I never had Mr. Coy but he was awesome as well. He works down at the furniture store by Memorial Art Company. Last time I was in Dodge I seen him outside and I pulled up to say hello and low and behold Mr, Kinkade was there as well, so I got two treats in one. It brought back many memories. :)
    Keep it simple.....

I only attended half a year at Lincoln back in 3rd Grade. Being a transfer from Wichita and moving to Dodge scared the crap outta me. The teacher was nice but the kids were very... well, kids can be cruel. I moved back to Dodge again in '92, went to DCHS. Mrs. Ripple and Mrs. Salisbury were my favorite teachers, as well as Mr. Horace Jefferson, he taught business law one or two years then left. Too bad, he was a great teacher. Oh, and I can't leave out Mr. Hutchcraft. One of the few teachers I've ever had who took a personal interest in my life at a time when I really needed it.

I had Mrs. Johnson as a teacher and principal. The ones who you think are too tough on you at the time wind up being the ones that you look at later in life as being the best. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were strict, but they really cared about what they were doing and I learned a lot from them.

I don't remember Ellie Basgall. Musta been after "my time". When I was there, it was the old pipe organ. That's blasphemy that they put an electric organ in the Cathedral! Holy Spirit, huh? That would be our parish, too, but we're fallen away. Just can't cozy up to all the crap stirred up about the priests that molested youngsters. I know I should, I just can't. And it bothers me a great deal that contributions made by generous parishioners all over the diocese paid that $10 Mill. I knew the diocese had money, but that had to hurt. I can't imagine what made them try to cover it up all this time.

The organ is another memory thing I lost during the encephalitis in '73, so I had to quit playing. Some things I never got back. That was one of 'em. Stuff is coming back little by little and in snippets - the piano is almost there, but it's taken a bunch of practice - my poor family!!
