I've been told that.

I just don't happen to give this topic the same weight as the rest of the people here and I thought the tree through the car thing was a bit of a giggle.

It's a fundamental difference here. You guys would cut the tree down to get the rusted hunk of metal out and I'd take a torch to it so I could keep the tree on my property and get rid of the eyesore.

I wasn't bagging on anyone for liking old cars. I just thought it was a funny photo.

Well maybe you need to be someone that has an appreciation for the classics to realize how sad these photos are. How about that some of these are potentially $100,000 vehicles rotting away as the property of people who may never see $100,000 in their lifetime. Now surly thats got to be sad.

Your right. I wouldn't think twice about cutting down a tree, which can be regrown, to save a $100,000 hunk of metal.

Not a bit.

It's their money they can do with it as they please.

It would have been much better if the car was back in service for someone to enjoy and was never left where a tree could grow in the first place.

The tree however could be put to good use in my fireplace.

Yup. Much better to be getting a Sonic fix than sitting under a tree watching a 'stang wither and die. Besides that, how many chicks are attracted to a tree? Wood maybe; but a simple tree???

Its good to see others have the same desire as myself. Have any of you nearly caused a major accident on a busy street because you saw a cherry late 60s big block street beast sitting on a side street? I do it all the time. I will find the owner of the car, "sound familiar?", thinkin the whole time, maybe theyve never heard of Barret Jackson. Yeah, and just maybe the arent connected so Ebay is unknown to them. And everyone in town is just to busy to recognize this machine. I then make a fool of myself by asking the owner, "hey, you wouldnt be interested in sellin that ole car out front, would ya? The response is usually the same: "Your the 7th person to ask me that, and thats just today. "Ill tell ya what I told the other 6. do ya see a for sale sign on that car? NO. Not for sale". Lets face it. The days of finding one in a barn or pasture and the owner parachuting in from 25 years ago is done. The only shelby, SS or Hemi Ill be able to afford is the diecast version.

Well they are around if you look hard enough, I just haven't decided on what option I want yet. I can go for a 1966 mustang coupe(289 4spd) ready to drive for $1,500 or a 1969 Charger RT needing lots of love for $750. I'm trying to make a trip down through Oklahoma hitting the small towns before I make my choice.

According to classic cars collectors there is only a few states that have not been picked clean yet. Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Most of these people are getting misinformed on the value of these classic muscle cars. They see them sell on Ebay for $20,000 but don't realize the owners have probably put $10,000 in it to restore it. They think that rusted old classic rotting in their yard is the same thing.

My choice would be easy. I'd take the '66 Stang anyday. Specially if the body is in decent shape. What a find! Be sure to post pictures so I can dream!
