| Hey Muffin! If you buy a Mustang, are you going to change your name to Sally?

| There was a 68 RS camaro with hideaway headlights and a truck load of parts. Body was rough but all the quarters and fenders came with it. 6500.00 firm. Non numbers matching 327 but it was a good deal. I tried to get him down and..POOF, It was gone. The guy gave him his price. This was this summer and I dont think 10,000.00 would buy it today. That is how insane the price and demand has gotten. The best investment you can make if you think about it. Its usually the sport option that brings the $, GT, SS, Shelby, Yenco, RT, 4 speed is always a + but now even the models they were based on bring 10,000 on up.....Somebody last night (Tues) had their hotrod up around 6th and the by-pass about 1:00 to 2:00 it didnt even sound street legal. I could hear it 5 blocks away. Did about half a dozen burnouts..Very impressive |

| What about clones? I've seen some clones sell for almost as much as the real thing. It's kind of strange how value can vary so much by year, model and options. For example, you'd think a 1964 1/2/65 would be worth a lot being the first year of the mustang, but its the 69/70's that consistently get top dollar. I know where there is a nice 1967 ford fairlane 2 door that looks as good as the nova in my opinion, and while the fairlane would be hard pressed to fetch $2,000 restored, the nova would bring $7k-8k with no restoration at all, and in the $20k range restored. You can buy a fully restored 1966 mustang for $5k-6k but can't touch a 1970 boss that is nothing but a shell(no engine, trany, no windows) for under $10k. You can buy a 1970 coupe fully restored for $5k-6k but if its a rotting unrestored fastback, you'll pay $8k. Add the paint and trimming of a mach/boss and you can get up to $16k. Most people get the wrong idea when it comes to their cars value. It's always been its only worth what someone is willing to pay. They go to Ebay and see a car like theirs with bids up to $50k and think that makes theirs potentially worth that much. If you really want to know what your car is worth check the Completed Listings box to the lower left and see what people are actually paying. Don't look at the ones that say Reserve Not Met but look at the ones that people actually bought. Thats what your car is possibly worth.

| I think thats because "muscle" in a lot of opinions, didnt really begin until 68. Some will argue this but you have to look back to the year when the "big 4" all jumped on board to build their own version of the street machine. As for the fairlane, Detector, you made a good point. I think the fairlane was overlooked due to the overwhelming success the mustang was getting. Chevy had the camaro but that wasnt enough. The ss chevelle and nova would fill the gaps left by the mustang. I wish you the best of luck finding a boss Your gonna need it. I saw a basket case 429 up to 90,000 on ebay last week |

| There's a lady lives over in spearville, last name was rehmert at one time. She has a 350 shelby and a mach 1 in the barn. When cars were first put in there many many moons ago, you could tell they were in good shape now they need much tlc and she would not take any amount of $$$$

| I think I've heard about them. It's really like finding a Rembrandt rotting away in a barn and nothing you can do about it. Although, I honestly think these people have a price they will take its just they're waiting for someone to make the offer. I would bet if I approached this lady and instead of asking if she wants to sell it just outright offered her $50,000 she'd have a different response. I'm finding that some of these people have talked with bankers and even have loans against them. I talked with a guy that has a 1971 Camaro that was appraised by the bank at $33,000. I have no idea where the bank came up with that idea, but they did get a loan against it. At this point I'm looking at trying to guess the next top cars. As you said it seems that the definition of muscle car runs from late 68-71 but there has been a few later models that could bring top dollar in another 10 years. Didn't some of the later 70's cars such as Trans Am and Z28 come with a big block? Surly there is a few 455's or 454's waiting to be had.

| I don’t know about value on these, but here are two that you won’t find a lot of. Not exactly in the 68-71 muscle car range but still interesting. If memory servers, Shelby didn’t convert any 4x4 or convertible models. I thought at the time if you could get a convertible Shelby it would have been one to hold on to.
