Rotting American Muscle

Months of searching barns, fields and backyards for my next project car has prompted me to post some of these very sad pictures of Rotting American Muscle. The owners of these various rotting classics had the same answer. "No its not for sale, I plan to fix it up."

Very sad indeed

I remember a picture of a 1971 Monte Carlo SS454 with a rather large tree growing in the engine compartment. That one had sat a long time. Sadly there were only 1919 of those made that year.

As I remember, the first Mustang owner in DC was David Boles. It was powered by 6 whole cylinders through 3 manual gears selected by a floor shifter between the bucket seats.

Sadly, Dr. Robert David Boles was killed in a car accident this week in Oklahoma City.

A couple of years ago, a Dr friend and his family moved from KC to Mayo Clinic. He had a '67 Mustang in his garage that he wanted driven, not hauled to his new home. He needed a sheltered home for it for the time between the move and when he could come back and get it. It sat in our garage. I was never so proud in my life! Started it every day. Just to hear it rumble.

Long story short, he came one bright day and drove it away. Problem is, he sold it for $6500 when he got home. I would have gladly forked over the cash. This car was completely original, solid, no dings and ran beautifully.

Just wish I'd known he was gonna sell it.......I'd gladly drive that instead of the '92 VW!!!!!
