Man that's the truth! We are headin to La to gamble this weekend - was thinkin bout San Antonio but decided it's just too far - hell the gas is gonna run us close to an extra night in the cabin! LOL

We've been warned (I'm in San Antonio yesterday, today and tomorrow) to steer clear of the River Walk tomorrow and tomorrow night. Some finals involving the Spurs.......I guess it's quite a deal here. We're heading home at 6 tomorrow evening and I don't think the River Walk is on our agenda. I woulda stayed over an extra night, no matter what, if you'd have come here, Texie! We rented a car at the airport. We could either pay $39 or something like it for a gas fill-up (we're driving a compact car, of course - it was all they had left!) or we could bring it back full. We decided to let them fill it up. We haven't used even a quarter of a tank. The gas prices down here look a lot like the prices in Kansas City. Yeow!

I think they are better by the coast! I called the Emily Morgan (right next door to the Alamo) and turned out it was right at 500 for 2 nights. Now that ain't bad for the kinda weekend I want but tag on the gas and driving for 5 hours and well.................... hangin at the machines, sloppin at the buffet and this "to die for" cabin I found won out - plus it only takes 2 hours to get there.

I didn't realize there was anything goin on there - must be why there are no rooms at Emily's till next weekend. If ya get a chance to see the hotel - it's haunted and really quite an architecual site to see. If ya don't do the river walk - hop a tour - they have awsome tours - one even included the lone star brewery (I think it's lone star - falstaff went under)............. it's pretty neat and kinda away from the crowd. The aquaduct and mission tour is also very interesting. Sorry it's just too far for me during the week, hope you enjoy, and don't forget Mia Tiarra's margarettias...................... at the farmers market - away from the riverwalk - more towards downtown.

We didn't go to Mia Tierra's, although we saw it. I was looking for authentic Mexican food - greasy and all. We found a place by the airport. Kinda run down and a hole in the wall kinda place. The food was outta this world!!! Very nice looking waiter. Very cute. Jail bait. But not for Sr. VP. I think she enjoyed the view. So did I, but it just wasn't as satisfying knowing he was waaaaay outta my league!!!

Spent most of my leaves at the Lone Star!! Didn't care for the Pearl Brewery (reminded me of Falstaff)! By the way, you used to have to be very careful on the River Walk, alot of muggings.

I think they have cleaned that up - but the riverwalk goes a long way............ I'm sure you would still be smart to stay in pretty populated areas but in those areas I think you are OK

It's a lot more lit up at night than I remember it being. Muggings? I didn't notice anthing, although all I had on me was $10 (in my front pocket) and a credit card (in my back pocket) and my capris were baggy so ya couldn't see the money or the credit card! There were just hundreds more people than I remember....could be the difference between school-time and summer. More vacations or somethin'.
