Why do people say "hot water heater"? Why in the hell would you heat hot water why not heat the cold water.

I've asked that one myself a whole bunch of times......like when all the kids are home and they have to have clean towels for all 3 showers each day.

Something I have always wondered. What is a "near miss"? Doesn't that mean that it was almost missed? It was most certainly a "hit".
