And the whole town went silent....

    Anyone know what happened?

Cops were directing traffic all over town and businesses were closing...it was chaos.

we were in dillons at the time. just grabbed the last two things we needed and managed to get checked out while the battery backups were running. we, too, heard it was all of dodge, but not what happened. glad to get home and have power, though!

I had just pushed my toaster lever down as the lights went out. I thought I caused it.

My brother called from the other side of town. He said his power was out and that driving in town with no traffic signals was an utter mess.

We never did lose ours. And we live close to Dillons. So weird how that works. Was probably another balloon!

Oh that isn't good! You would think they would come up with a better way to protect those things.

They do have ways to protect those things. $100-300 battery packed surge protector plug ins from Best Buy.

Crikey. That is spendy lol. I don't think my computer is even worth $100 at this stage in its life!

Yeah but is the information on it worth $100 to you. Many people store most of their pictures, their music, their lives on the damn things. From Financial forms to work projects. I think the cheapest pack I've seen is around $75 for 30 minutes worth of energy, they have packs that do up to a day i think.

I am glad I have a nerdy hubby. He has back ups of back ups of back ups and we don't really have all that much on here LOL. I think he just likes to do it. Which is great. Because I probably would never think about it.

Find an external hard drive (I recommend newegg.com) and download XCOPY32. You can set up a shortcut on your desktop to copy only new/changed to the external hard drive using XCOPY32. Son just lost the hard drive on his laptop, despite me telling him for a while to get an external hard drive. 3 years of music/pictures on it. You never think it can happen to you, well, it CAN.

Carbonite. At $59 a year that's not too bad. ;)

Anyone know what happened? I was in Dillon's and got checked out. Thought it was just Dillon's, but found out much of town was off. Maybe a substation blew? I needed some ice also, but don't like what Dillon sells now. I like Myer's Ice so headed south on Second, but the old Costal Mart of out of power, went by River Stop and they had power, so got Myer's Ice there.

Tee- it's not funny to lose your computers - we were at church - got home to find all our computers/electronics were fine - BUT, the coffee pot doesn't work (even tho plugged into a GFI circuit) - and that's a terrible loss in this household!! HA
