The increasing number of morbidly obese people is costing a lot of money across many sectors - should such people pay more for their airline seats? Should we tolerate these gross lard tubs any longer? Should they be sent to special "fat camps" where they are made to lose weight, and fined $100pm for every ounce they put back? Or should we just be relaxed about it and admit that everyone has freedom of choice as to how they want to live?

Fat camps. Is that like a FEMA camp?

How many of these morbidly obese people have full time jobs? It would seem difficult to me to become morbidly obese and acquire a phenominally big a55, while busting said a55 working 8 to 12 or more hours a day. Maybe the connection between being obese and receiving entitlement checks (while not actually working) is the real problem here. Obesity wasn't a problem 20 years ago... there weren't as many Federal programs either. Maybe the two are related...?

    Funny you mentioned entitlement checks.
If you look at the obesity rate & the 2008 presidential Election map, you'll find a lot the "FatA$$" 25-29% and 30%+ states, voted red....:bounce:
I think the red state fatties need to get a job & :skip: a little bit.

Typical - these lazy fat arsed Repubs should put a bit of physical effort in rather than sit at their computers all day bitching about Obama as they stuff their 10th Krispy Kreme donut into their mouth before lunch which no doubt will consist of a huge cheese-burger and fries!!! ;)

haven't had a donut in ages. that might change in the future though. todays lunch was homemade chicken and noodles with home baked bread to sop up the juice.

That sounds nice. I was on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, across from the Houses of Parliament, in a restaurant enjoying a steak & salad washed down with a splendid glass of red wine. Delicious.

Funny you mentioned political parties and the voting record, yet somehow managed to dodge the original question which was "How many of these morbidly obese people have full time jobs?" Turning every argument into "R vs. D" is somewhat simplistic. Since you are obviously the smartest person in the room, in whatever room you find yourself in, I am a bit disappointed with your response.

Are you going to post something informative or just repeat yourself?
The unfunny dig at the end was cute, but do have a source/link to obesity & welfare rates?

Well since Spirit can't step up, I found this.
Stats show a recession is good for national health, go figure.

    :2thumbsup:

    from the link:
"But strange as it may seem, bad times can also be good for health. Forget individual health for a minute. This is about the macro picture, the health of entire societies. And there statistics show that as economics worsen, traffic accidents go down, as do industrial accidents, obesity, alcohol consumption and smoking. Population-wide, even deaths from heart disease go down during recessions."

Ok I am going to chime in here since I am FAT! lol! When I was a little girl and early teens I played outside all the time, played sports, rode horses, swam daily because everyone I knew had a damn pool and my Grandma had Watersports, ran, played tag, rode motorcycles, ect ect ect...I was very active and still I was overweight. When I got in my late teens I lost a lot of weight and actually looked pretty damn good but believe me I ate like a damn bird. Throughout the years I have struggled with weight issues and I do not eat that much and have made changes here and there in my diet. I even gained A LOT OF WEIGHT in my drug addiction when most ppl would be rail thin...needless to say its been frustrating. One thing for sure I AM NOT LAZY! Why do ppl have to stereotype overweight people as lazy or over eaters???? Some ppl don't get it that not all fat ppl are fat because of their lifestyle, they actually just are that way. Metabolism issues, thyroid or hey check this out...cost of a hamburger $1.00 on a value menu, cost of a salad $4.99. Cost of a 12 pack of pop (Generic) 2.50, cost of vitamin or flavored water anywhere between 5 to 7 bucks WTF?????? In the end in this cruel messed up wprld (especially in Dodge City) I got more shoot being overweight than being a drug addict...very sad:'(

I know how ya feel! I wasn't quite that active as a kid but we were usually out doing something or another. I go up and down too, and sometimes for no real reason! It is a little weird. I stay within a certain range. I never go below, I never go over it. It is always within the same 25 or so lbs. Sometimes it goes away, then it creeps back on. On the back on side right now, probably because of this terrible junk food craving. That will stop soon and I will only want fruits and veggies. And I have said for ever it is way to expensive to buy healthy. Feed a family of five according to that pyramid and you will soon be losing a LOT of weight because you will have run out of funds!

Listen up DIP :poop:... Answer the original question I posted. How can someone spend all their time eating if they have a full time job? I wasn't trying to be funny with the 'dig'. You are a screaming banshee Elitist Liberal, although I'm not sure why... I haven't seen much of anything elite or intelligent posted next to your avatar.

And as far as 'not stepping up' Jackass, some of us work multiple jobs and can't hang out online for hours on end. So go find a slick substance and stick your rod 'A' into your own slot 'B'.

Yes, I just told you to go :censored: yourself. :lmao2:

You're too busy to provide proof to the whatever point you were trying to make.
But not too busy to hurl insults, gotcha...:2thumbsup:
To answer your original question: "How many of these morbidly obese people have full time jobs?"
I don't know and I can honestly say I don't care, but if you really want to know, look it up yourself.
Of course I realize you won't, with all that work and stuff. And in the end, you probably don't care either.

I think the stats are misleading. Take me for example. I'm 5'10" and weigh 255. I just did a physical for work yesterday and passed without any problems. According to "standards" I'm obese...80 pounds overweight. Granted, I could lose some weight, but at 175 I look sick and would be sick. My bones weigh 160 at least. Lol.
Anyway...it would be nice if we all had self motivation to keep fit, but we dont and in reality we won't. There are many solutions to fix the problem...not just one or two simple ones...but is anybody willing to do it?

Spirit, Spirit, please calm down it's not like you to be hurling personal insults all over the place. Apologise to Spike or you'll stand in the corner for 10 minutes.

Either I pushed a button or Spirit ran out of facts.
    I suspect the latter.
