OK then, Radioguy, just how many unlicensed Russian and Chinese drivers are driving around Dodge in numbers sufficient to cause an obvious problem? That's a non-starter!

This is part of the problem - that too many are content to spend more energy explaining why the problem can't be solved, than they are in finding a solution to the problem.

Do you stick to your "training" word-for-word, or are you allowed to improvise so long as you stay within the law? You are allowed a certain amount of discretion, I'm sure.

Well then Freddie ole boy..
How do YOU propose to solve the illegal problem in DC?
-Excel needs 'em..
-Landlords love 'em..
-They keep Western Union in bizzz..
Keep in mind that INS. isn't gonna lift a finger unlesss the individual is a felon, wanted for a felony or has commited a felony.

Do you lock up all the illegals who get stopped for no D.L. or no Ins.??
Gee, you'd have the FOSO jail full in just under 9 minutes.

Well, lets give them a NTA for City court.
HHhhmmm, guy didn't show up for court, you just wasted the courts, the judge & the cops time.
This is gonna get purdy expensive..

I can't wait to hear this one...................

p.s. from Freddie:
"This is part of the problem - that too many are content to spend more energy explaining why the problem can't be solved, than they are in finding a solution to the problem."

I shall forever refer to you as Mr. Kettle..

Maybe we should do what Dodge City is famous for. String 'em up or take 'em out back and shoot 'em.

Spike, I didn't say that the problem starts and ends with DCPD?

Yeah, the INS needs to deal with this. Guess what? I voted for Bush twice and I'll tell you that HE hasn't done diddly squat about the problem at our southern border. Does that give you the excuse you need to ignore the problem? Didn't you take an oath before they handed you a badge and a gun? Was that oath to uphold the laws of the land and protect its citizens, or was that oath to the packing plants? You can't serve both! You've been trying for years, it hasn't worked.

Stop whining about how hard your job is and go do it any way.

P.S. What is wrong with Sheriff Arpaio's (sp) method? Erect 1500 tents and let the arresting begin. Course, it gets a little more nippy here than in Arizona but several weeks of that and they might be trying to escape back to Meheeco...or Oklahoma, I'm not sure which they'd find to be worst.

I heard a solution on uninsured / unliscensed last month on a talk show. Blame the car. That's right. Blame the car. If a car is cited 3 times you take the car and shoot it - Basically the car becomes "not allowed" on the streets. It's taken and sold. City / County gets the money and the driver is off the streets till he gets another car. Course in Tx the tag goes with the car - not the driver. When you buy a car the tag is already on it. People would think twice about loaning thier car out to just anyone.
I remember in the 70's I had a car in my back yard that I didn't keep the insurance up on and the MVD sent me a letter and told me I had 30 days to come down & show POI or they would come get the car. The tag was still current but we weren't driving the car. I had to go get insurance on the car since the tag was still in effect. I thought it was wierd but I'm tellin ya that's what I had to do. Course I'm sure things are different now.
In Texas what we do is pray a south of the border car will hit us - I'm tellin ya they settle "on the spot" cause they don't want the cops called. We had a guy that offered us 500 (our deductible) for a REALLY minute rear end hit. We settled for 100 - hell we weren't gonna go get it fixed anyhow all it took was some touch up paint - it was a scratch. Besides who has the time on a weekend to wait for a cop in Houston over a really minor accident. Hell there is real crime to fight.
BTW - how did this get to be so racist anyhow? I don't consider my self racist but I do get tired of people circumventing the leagal system. I know that undocumented folks are a problem but I also know they spend money and pay taxes while doing so. I just wish they went thru the process in a leagal fashion. But I gotta admit most of the men work - I still say it's just not fair that so many go thru the leagal channels to be here and others are given the same rights just because they got here by whatever means they could. To me that's the issue - it's not that they are here - it's that they cheated to get here. It's not fair to those that play by the rules. I honestly don't think profileing is the answer - besides - THAT is VERY illeagal and just wrong. But I also know if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck - it's probably a duck. Cops have their hands tied when it comes to that tho. They are voters just like the rest of us - it's not the cops job to solve the world's problems they keep busy with society's problems.

Bubba I understand your being aggrivated over unlicenced/un-insured drivers and tho I dont live there now, I spent pretty much all my life in W. Kansas to know that the biggest majority of the unlicenced/un-insured are the illegal immigrants. Thats not racist or biased, thats just simple fact. I also understand the problems the cops have as far as catching the unlicenced/un-insured because yeah, the cop does have to have more than just a "gut feeling" to pull someone over, needing "probable cause" that sooner or later does happen like a mud covered or unreadable licence plate, a burned out tail light, yadda, whatever it takes, and then things can run the proper legal course. It cant be just from profiling that the cop gets to pull someone over even though I know that DOES happen. Speaking of profiling, I dont recall who it was on here mentioned what they went by when giving a driver a little "extra attention" was the age and condition of the vehicle they are driving (profiling) where I kinda wish at times that I could be around a cop now and then who uses the bum car profile excuse to pull me over. Reason being is that due to circumstances waaay beyond my control, im no longer able to buy a newer vehicle, the one I have now being a (for real) little old lady car, an old Chevy Caprice that is in good shape mechanically and the interior is very good (hey, the AC, radio and Heater works all right?) but the old girl that I got it from (the price was right at the time, I had to pay the new title fee of $7.50, the tight old witch!haha!) I think had hit every solid object she could find, just beat the hell out of the car so for that fact along with everything in Yankeeland being rusted to hell and gone inside 5yrs, my old beater would profile right in! In fact just for giggles I wish they would also have a drug dog handy because if you add the appearance of my dented and rusted beater with me having a beard and a ponytail thats long enough that I can sit on it when braided makes me a pretty good bet on being unlicenced and un-insured, right? WRONG! Im perfectly legal with all needed documents - for the time being anyway because everything is coming due to renew pretty soon which is going to be yet another financial puzzle for a cripple. One thing I also want to mention is that Illegals would love it in Yankeeland when it comes to vehicle tags and registration is that a current, legal drivers licence OR proof of insurance are NOT required here for someone to tag a vehicle! Yeah thats for real, seen it done. They go up to the desk with either a new title or the tag renewal paperwork and as long as they check the little box that says "yup, I gots insurance" and pay the few bucks for the new tag or sticker, out the door they go.

Political correctness has a stranglehold on you guys. Heck, it has a stranglehold on most people. Profiling isn't wrong, it's common sense.

If one day the INS decided to immediately deport all illegals, and Dodge thus made it a priority to round them up, should little old black ladies be pulled over as part of that operation too, so that we don't profile? That's ridiculous. It's as ridiculous as not being able to give added attention to Arabs going through airport security.

I think it's crazy to - in one breath complain about society's ever-increasing ills - then in the next breath we saddle cops so that it's nearly impossible for them to correct the problems.

I've been around enough cops to know that after years of experience they develop a sense of "who done it." Why not turn them loose with that instinct to do what we pay them to do? It's no wonder that after awhile they throw their hands up and give up.

Wyatt Earp would be ashamed.

That's right! I miss the good ol' days when Wyatt Earp walked into the Longbranch Saloon guns blazing, and when Spike and Cap'n D could summarily piss pound illegal Mexicans outside local bars.
