| I personally don't dance around the issue, I just don't like to stereotype. Yes we have a problem with hispanics, but not all of them can be fit into the same category, and that's a major problem with "profiling". You can't say because one hispanic does this(Insert Favorite Stereotype) that every one you see does.

| Profiling my friend is thinking ALL hispanics drive low riders, drink corona, work at excel, beat thier wifes and are nice to thier girlfriends UNTIL they become thier wives. BTW this list is endless...... Hell there are classes among any race - there is always a big dog and there are always cockroaches. Admitting that and knowing the difference is not profiling or racism. It's common sense and it's what I was taught from a kid not only from whites, but from hispanics and blacks as well as asians. When I want in your "profile" box - I'll lift the lid and crawl in - Being politically correct as you put it - is far kinder than being brash, abrasive, and I garun damn te ya..... I'll be talkin about issues long after others have tuned the brash and abrasive out. Ya never get anywhere with "in your face" tatics. Ya don't have a hispanic problem in DC - hell the voters begged them to come in - hispanics are the financial life blood of DC. If ya still live in DC ya just gotta find a way to enjoy your culture as much as they enjoy theirs. DC is really a place of race collision. At least down here we got enough room to spread out a bit and not trample on each other too bad. We are not "politically correct" we just choose not to kill each other off - we share. Both sides stomp the roaches when they can - doesn't mean they are profiling or racist - most roaches look the same.......

| Profiling is not simply a black and white issue. We all profile to some extent like it or not. The only time profiling becomes an issue is when your wrong. Here is a couple of scenarios. Lets say there is a classic car show in Wright Park and you get a call of a drive-by just happened at the park with no description. You quickly get to 3rd and Earp just in time to see a 2002 F-250(club-cab) with 4 white kids in typical garb(cowboy hats, etc) turning west on Earp, and a 1964 Impala low rider with 4 Hispanics in typical garb(bandannas etc) turning east, which would you choose to pursue? Not too tough and you probably wouldn't catch hell if you were wrong. Now lets make it a bit more interesting. Same situation, only you find two low riders exiting the park. Same set of occupants but now your wide open for damed if you do, damed if you don't. Your experience as a police officer tells you to pursue the Hispanics as a first choice right? Now the big difference is IF you made the right choice no one would ever accuse you of profiling, but what happens if the Hispanics were innocent and it was the car load of white kids that were guilty. Profiling is part of our every day actions it's only when the profiling proves wrong that the PC police scream foul.

| If your a cop that's worth his salt and been in the town for awhile - you know which car to follow cause you probably know which car has the "constant" problem occupants. If you are "new" to the force - ya otta be with someone who can teach you what you need to know to be safe and be of service out there which is why you are a cop to begin with...... Trust me it's like nursing.......it ain't the pay that made ya wanna be the one doin the chasin of the bad guys....... no matter what car they are in.
