Kansas Sex Offenders

From today's KC Star:

"The Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) says it has Halloween plans for released sex offenders still under KDOC supervision:

No Halloween lights
No Halloween decorations
No candy
No porch light
No walking around the block
No answering the door to a kid
No having a party
No going to a party
This, KDOC says, is "an enhancement to its ongoing risk-reduction efforts with regard to sex offenders in the community." I think that says released sex offenders pose a risk to communities, and KDOC is trying to keep that down."

Did anybody in DC know about this? Might be an interesting way to learn who the sex offenders are. Then again, it would probably identify some elderly people who don't want to be bothered, some sick people who can't come to the door, etc., etc. I looked at Dodge one fine evening on the map to see how many registered sex offenders you had and where they were. It's pretty clean in that part of the country! God forbid you should pull up the map of Johnson County!!! Red, Green, Blue abounds and very, very close to schools!

Its good we have a way to keep tabs on sex offenders or "tree jumpers" I call them. But what about the unregestered ones. The nasty few that once released from d.o.c. went awol never to be seen by their parole officer. So they prey their killing feilds undetected by radar. What I think should be done is this..upon conviction, all chi-mo's and tree jumpers should have an implant injected, kinda like they have for pets, except satelites will do all the tracking. Does this sound too extreme?

I wasn't really wanting to spend that much money on them.....just pile them all in a big aluminum van and sit it in the sun and let 'em have their way with each other.

there are 29 sex offenders currently listed as living in DC and a total of 34 living in Ford County. I find I know one of them and yep, one living in the near-neighborhood. Everyone with trick-or-treaters should check this site. Geez - it's a regular come and know thy neighbor. I'd like to meet 'n greet a few privately.....guess some of us could go trick or treatin'.......

The monitoring is nationwide. This is really nothing too new - the media has just jumped on it this year. Most probation officers I think have pretty much been aware that this night is a "kids" night and that it is also a night that might put their parolees in a comprimising situation. In Houston they are doing drive bys and any violation will be a "free trip" on the "chain". Funny how the media can take an old idea and revive it. I think most molestations are done by "family" and they don't need a holiday for access.

Here's a new site I saw on the news tonight. It can list offenders, much like most DOC websites, but this one's primary use is to create a map of known offenders for any given area. You can put in your address, and it'll plot all registered offenders in your area.
