I'm sorry for jumping on your oppinions or hurting your feelings, if I hurt them. It's just a bad deal that bad things always seem to happen to good people. And if all of you would know who this person and his family are, like my husband and I do you would be angry also. It's just a shame that this happens.

I could go on and on, but I have my opinion and other people have theirs. Just don't go picking on HANDICAPPED people! You don't know what it means to be HANDICAPPED until you have walked a mile in their shoes!!I wasn't picking on handicapped people. I was simply stating that if you have X amount of resources (police officers) and X+20 crimes going on in Dodge City and you can't cover the entire area then you have to basically decide what is more important. Would you rather have someone controlling the speeds of careless motorists in front of a grade school or would you rather have someone patrolling Walmart for those who are not pregnant parking in a mother to be spot? It would be great if we could have 100% coverage and could ticket every jay walker, person that doesn't use their signal and those that park in spots that aren't for them...but we can't. I was just staying that although handicapped parking is important....there are more things important for the police to be doing with their resources. You don't need to be a college educated pilot to figure that out...lol

We all learn and grow from the edges of our comfort zones and I believe your friend will soon be able to travel on his own. Then it will all come together and a parking space will be open for his use (mostly) because some other person elected to walk those few extra steps from a regular parking space; not because he is considerate, but because he remembers the fine he paid due to his prior lack of consideration.

This law is for his benefit.

Of course I realize that our morals, allegience, work ethics, etc, were alot better back then, than they are today. My Father and my Uncle both fought in WWII. You should talk to them and learn from one who was there. My Uncle fought in the B of the Bulge in Germany. He also liberated the death camps. My Father was in the Japanese campaign, and he also fought in Korea. My Dad refuses to purchase anything Japanese, and he has his reasons. My Wife's Uncle led a raid on Japan. People who have not experienced things, cannot understand them.

Vietnam was a JOKE! Iraq is a joke! Why can the American people not mind their own business, and use all that wasted money to guard our borders, our country, and our people?? Or should I say, why can the US Govt. not mind their own business?? We can't afford Meals on Wheels for our destitute Seniors, but we can blow money on crap for the elite few!!

As far as the "law", I have worked at times in law enforcement. I understand the "complications" of law enforcement. I appreciate the officers, and what they do. Personally, I do not think they get paid enough to risk their lives. The biggest problem that I had, was that you catch someone red-handed breaking the law, and some "pissy" lawyer or Judge turns them loose.

I know that the "ME ME ME" crowd of today, could care less about Seniors or Handicapped Citizens. But to a Senior/Handicapped person that cannot walk and is in serious pain, that Handicapped Parking spot is VERY IMPORTANT! To see those spots full of able bodied "Illegal Immigrants", that just laugh at you when you ask them not to park there----Well that is just plain ----IGNORANCE!!

Hey MIT, did you go through the induction center in KC? Maybe stay at one of those two hotels, the Philips or the Stats? Had a really good time shooting pool or playing cards with a great bunch of guys the night before? You get bussed over to the induction center in the morning and while waiting for things to start the bus from the other hotel were the draftees were staying shows up. Remember what went through your mind when you first saw that bunch?

No wait! You were a flyboy and didn’t have to wonder about some dope smoking hippy scum watching your six. Never mind, I guess you really wouldn’t understand.

I will try to be more sensitive to other's posts as well. I really feel this was a "reading" mishap - Just didn't want you to think I was targeting handicapp folks. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am very "rule orientated" I never refuse to make concessions for honest mistakes. There are those that cry foul for anything. I never thought your friend was one of them. If I saw the same story again in 6 months then that would change my mind. Again I wish him a successful rehab and I'm glad you are here. Don't let this be the only topic you weigh in on.

I went thru Texas. Hated the place. Still do! My Bud went thru KC. He was one of those "hippys"! Would never have worried about him watching my back. Of course, I guess farm boys were a little different than those city boys. Trained with a "minority hippy" from New York. Wouldn't have traded him for anyone. He ended up giving the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Had plenty of "hippys" that kept my bird flying. And you know what, all those hippys grew up, thanks to the military! I still maintain contact with some of them to this day. One of them works for me, and is my top employee! Although that was not ever my lifestyle, I don't judge people by their beliefs, opinions, and so forth. On the other hand, I also had some "little rich brats" in my Wing. Stupid, dopiest, worthless little bastards, most of them! Of course, Daddy took care of them!

handicap parking

Went to wally world tonight around 8:00pm and pulled into one of the handicap spaces and next to us there was an officer writing a ticket for a car parked in a handicap space with no visable plate card. As we got out of our car the officer ask if we had a plate card and we had better get it put up. It was already hanging on the mirror. We went inside and about 15 mins. later I came back out of the store to set in my car and the officer was still there. I heard him on his radio calling to find out what amount to put on the ticket. Finally he put the ticket on the windsheild and left. I thought boy it was about time the police started ticketing these people for parking illegal. I know they have more important things to do then write tickets at wally world, but it was still nice to see. I sat there for a while and thought this is going to be funny when who ever owned the car came out and found that they had a ticket. Waited for about 30 mins. and low and behold here came two more officers and stopped behind this same car and I hear the lady officer say this is the veichel and walked to the front of the car and seen that it already had a ticket on it. The lady officer said to her partner lets see how they do this. She took the ticket off the windsheild and chuckled a little and said I thought the fine for this offense was $150.00 not $119.00 plus court cost. Her partner said, these people are lucky we didn't get here before Officer Gordon. Any way hubby came out finally about 9:30 and those people had still not came out. We lrft and went to eat and relized that we had forgotten something and back to wally's we went. That damn car was still there. And that was at 10:45.
I don't know what can be done about this problem but you would think old wally would hire people and have them deputized and write there own tickets. After so long of a time have them towed at owners expense. It would surely leave the police time to do what they need to be doing.
I know I'm just an old but someone might be interested in my ranting

I would like to Thank the Officer for helping with this problem! My wife and some of my friends have complained to Walmart Management about this problem, but they seem unsure of what to do. If the PD writes some tickets, maybe the word will spread, and people will quit abusing the situation. As I said in earlier posts, it is no fun being handicapped. On my first cross country trip, I couldn't believe how much of a hassle it is for a handicapped person. Thank you again Officers!!

Thanks for the info. OldHag.
