Gang-Crimes out of control in Dodge City

Maybe if it was pointed out to the school that not offering English classes to the newcomers is discrimination it might shake them up.

Even some citizens could use a brush-up on English skills. But I still don't think that the school should offer these classes free of charge - after all, it's taxpayer money.

As far as gangs go in Dodge................woah, long time brewing. I remember when Excel opened (it was MBPXL back then) and they brought in a whole shitload of Laotions (sic). These poor people were just dumped here, many in clothes donated, and not speaking a lick of English. They were treated poorly by just about everybody here. Why? Because they were just dumped here. No warning, no adjusting in the schools, nothing just suddenly a few thousand Laotions on our doorstep.
We have always had "gangs" here. From bikers to Mexican Mafia, the drug flow through Dodge was always controlled by them, and it flowed rather freely. Nobody cared because those "gangs" were not into making names for themselves and really did not want a whole lot of problems. They left people alone, and people left them alone. The Laotions, they had there own "gangs" too. They also kept to themselves but definately cut a big chunk into the others drug control. The Asain population dealt with it's own people, no outsiders. The plants needed more workers and here came the illegals in mass groves.........
I think a quote from a past Chief of Police pretty much summed up Dodge City's blindness: "We do not have gangs, just kids with baseball bats"
The gangs that started forming were not, and are not, as organized or structured as big city gangs so in our city's eyes they were not really gangs. Sounds stupid doesn't it? This is why the problem, which could have been dealt with immediately, has become the festuring-oozing pustule it is now.
We have a school with a dress code to stop the wearing of gang affiliated clothes........doesn't work if they don't make EVERYONE dress the same now does it? What good is a uniform if you can wear pink shoes with it? We get rally's and front page news coverage from fanatics who want to change the mascot from a Demon to something else but do you see anybody gathering and saying, or doing, something about how these kids dress and act while at school? We can't even get a new jail for grown criminals, think we can afford one for kids?
I say take all the gang members and teach them how to properly shoot a gun so that way they can kill off each other and quit hitting innocent people. They want to huff paint? Fine, take one of them and sray a whole can of Gold Enamel up their ****in nostrils until the crap pours out their tear ducts. Change the school uniforms from Blue/White/Khaki to pink and green. Make the girls wear baggy MC Hammer pants and turtle necks while the boys wear those short-short pants we had in the 70's. You want to wear pink shoes, you get to wear a pink, and I mean a Granny pink, with little flowers, uniform also.
Ok, I am done now, let the stones be thrown my way.

I agree with most of what you said, Dutchman. But at one time, there were BIG CITY gang connections going on here. I have since lost track, but several years ago, I definitely know there were big city gang members commuting to Dodge.

What makes me sad, is that everyone thinks of the $$$ from this implosion rather than what it does to our quality of life. All you hear is "Well, if Excel leaves town, we would go financially belly up". Gee, how did we get along before they came?? I was doing just fine! I originally came to Dodge City because it was a nice little town to raise my kids. Don't think I would think that way today!

Let's be honest here, folks, there are some REAL racist comments flying around.

But - are they true?

That's the twenty dollar question.

If it is a fact that the gang problem is dominated by Hispanics - let's say so - and skip the politically-correct jargon and get right to solving the problem.

We can't target an entire race because some of them are showing how ignorant they are - but we can, and should, point out the probabilities and make NO APOLOGIES for basing our solution on those statistics.

For too long, our nation has ducked its head when of anything of racial interest came up, and in doing so, we've opened the door to thugs that know how to work the system and cry 'discrimination.'

When shootings are occurring - the authorities need to take the proverbial bull by the horns and make it sooooooooooooo uncomfortable to be charged with being in a gang - that the youths find another, more benign, past-time.

Speaking of thefts and such, my brother-in-law had an entire car stolen from the front drive of his property. It was a Camaro Rally-Sport with a custom hood grey and black. Someone actually pulled a truck up and towed the car right in front of the house. This was on 108 road just down Park st. If anybody sees anything resembling this car please let me know or the proper authorities. That house out there has been robbed several times. Last time they stole a motorcycle, the time before they broke into the house and stole some movies and cds and the time before that they stole an entire entertainment center.
