| There's no other way to charge it in my vehicle but in the mounted cradle. I am kicking myself in the butt, but hindsight is 20/20 It's just real sad that you have to have your stuff nailed down to keep it from ketting taken. It didn't used to be this way.

| I know this is of little consolation.... but on Hilton Head Island the tourists were always having valubles ripped off from their vehicles... signs were posted everywhere at the beaches to stow valuables out of sight in vehicles.... It was a ring of criminals and somehow they were never caught...(at least that I heard of) speaking of ring.... they probably circled the wagon so to speak and take what they want yes ...we do live in different times.... its forever changed .... so sad..... I am in a small town now...however ...I have heard so many horror stories.... I lock my door at my house and lock my car ...every time...but ...if they want it bad enough that wont stop them.... You should be able to file a stolen report and it be entered into the puter immediately.... whats up with that...???

| Also, be sure to let Sprint (or whomever) know the phone is in the wrong hands. They can temporarily shut it off, saving you a bundle and making it worthless to the crook. In order to have it turned back on, they have to have the code. My son's was stolen out of his pickup (he was in the convenience store for only a minute....) in Washington, DC. He was pretty shook up, bein' a small town boy. But he called Sprint first thing - there had already been several long distance calls made. He shut 'er off. Never found the phone. Hopefully you will in Dodge. Also, are you offering a nice reward to get your info back? Whoever took it might find the reward handy since the phone isn't usable.

| Only way they can solve a crime is if it falls into their laps.

| That may have been the case in some instances but I'm sure the chief would be glad to furnish you with the stats....... I see that as a little unfair to the cop shop..... any cop shop........ it's a damn cell phone - it's not like there is a trail to follow. Kinda like loosin your wallet...... you expect them to find a wallet? Stollen furniture, cars, etc are a little easier to solve - something that can be pawned... cell phones turn from one druggie to another on the corner. Cides Tee's got the GPS goin........ what's he need a cop for but to go pick it up???.......

| Maybe I'll change pretty quickly, but I don't see a huge problem running into a store with my cell phone in plain sight on the seat. Of course the doors are locked. But most phones are worthless unless you know the code and I haven't heard of one stolen in quite a while up here.......hell, everybody's got one - just walk into any restaurant! Even kids on a date are both talking on their phones. Like they can't stand to talk to one another! ![]()

| [Q] it's a damn cell phone - it's not like there is a trail to follow. Kinda like loosin your wallet[/Q] I think that is the point. There is a trail to follow, it has GPS built in. They can track it right to the house it is sitting in as I type this. If only Tee didn't have to wait so long a sting could be under way. I don't care if it is a Cell Phone or a Caddie. Theft is theft no matter how you look at it. Unless I read it all wrong, then I appologize. |

| I think if they can track it - then it woulda been done already. Hell Tee could get the track call the PD for officer assist in reclaiming property. I think there is a hangup on the tracking it sounds like. What do ya say tee?? Does the phone company repuire a police report to track? Did I miss that? On the other hand........... if really is a cell phone....... if it's off is it trackable? It could be layin in a ditch by now. I don't put cell phones up there with car theft, home invasion, assault, drive bys........ call me insensitive but they just are in a different class. Ya'll got lots of all of em - like we do. If I were missing my cell phone and went to the PD with the GPS location I'm sure they would give me the first avaiable officer - but I'm sure I would wait my turn. They do recovery of stollen propery all the time - it doesn't take 3 days to get a case #. tho. I didn't understand that. Call me confused!
