| This is not a standard cellphone. It is a mobile computer, with Internet, and with a phone. It does have GPS. They could track it down conceivably to within one meter, at the most. To be tracked, it must have a charge and be able to respond to queries from Sprint. Sprint will not track it without the police report. Sprint's lengthy process is thief-friendly. Officer has done his part, but says it is going through the process at the PD. Could take 3-5 days for a report. The phone normally does not have a charge after 2 days. The phone would surely be dead by now, so the phone will not reply to GPS queries from Sprint. In other words, the window of opportunity is closed. The thief will walk. This was bad timing for this to get stolen while a huge drug bust/investigation/sting was occurring in DC. I realize that this was petty compared to the other things they were dealing with. The only thing that concerns me is, the process. There seems to be no avenue in the records/paperwork process for escalation in instances were the window of opportunity is closing. Who knows what other things the PD may have stumbled onto when acting on firm evidence of a crime as a result of the GPS tracking of a stolen device. Regardless, I don't blame the PD. It was my momentary lax in security that allowed this to happen. Sprint should have started to track it once notified (within 30 minutes) and then released the results when all paperwork were in order. But they refuse to even start to track it without all paperwork. It doesn't matter now, unless the thief has a charger. By now, It's not trackabe, it's dead and either at a pawnshop or in the trash. It was furnished by the corporation by which I am employed. They are overnighting me another one, hopefully I receive today. This has cost me nothing except a bad mark at work, and the feeling of being violated. I have learned a good lesson. I am to be on gaurd, always, and secure everything that is mine. I take responsibility for my lax in security. It wont happen again. These incidents just tend to highten my awareness for the world we now live in, and motivate me to change to survive in our new world. I will adapt. I am heading outside right now to nail down everything I own and install some more security devices. ![]()

It’s been four and a half years since I had my home broken into and some things can never be made right again. In the long run I would have been better off to have just handed the thieves several thousand in cash and been done with it. Given the opportunity I wouldn’t hesitate to pass out some small metallic objects instead.

| Had a 10,000 claim myself..... plus they took off with it in my car...... I left the keys on my kitchen table........ got the car back and some of the stuff but still was a pricey claim. I was just pissed bou the mess they made of my house then the fingerprint mess I also had to clean up. Many moons ago. Now got the security system and a big gun!! The house is lit up like a friggin airport! Have to turn off some of the lights at christmas cause it drowns out my doe and buck!....LOL Lessons are spanky kind of things at times. Good luck to ya Tee! I'de be fumin too but I think I'd be more peeved with Sprint!
