I don't think there is a rule between warning and ticket - don't know what the legal distance of vision is either............ round here we just follow common sense rule. Is there a law that covers that? Look like it was in the morning based on the time - I think down here if you are silly enough to drive in the fog with no parkng lites......... its your problem. I don't hink there is a law but might be. PS........... just wana add........ that ain't no damn fog!! That just looks like normal haze on a good plant day round here!!!.......... bummer on the ticket fella!

I could be wrong but I believe the officer has choice in the matter. Usually, if it was not intentional you get a warning.

Im sorry officer.. I was not speeding intentionaly.... RIGHT I believe as far as a speeding ticket goes you get a ticket and not a warning when you are going so many miles over the speed limit. I could be wrong.. and probably am.

They’re also known as “running lights”.

So what is the requirement for headlights?

I was looking in the ks driver's handbook but I didn't find anything that was readily clear about it.

http://www.ksrevenue.org/pdf/dlhb.pdf

I searched for "fog" and "lights" but didn't find anything that was really clear.

Not even a half hour ago I was driving south on 14th. in the outside lane wanting to move to the inside lane and had to very carefully peer through the rain drops on my window and mirror to see if anyone was slightly behind me in that lane. Yup, two vehicles were attempting to pass. It would have been much easier to see them if their lights were on.

Writing tickets for no headlights ......? Just follow the money and you'll see why you got one,,,, err: 2 tickets.
