I would say she nailed him for the seatbelt and added the lights as a courtesy for his attitude.
Attitude? I was very polite as was the officer. Everything was in order with DL and insurance. The only question I asked was when her first words were "Sir, the reason I stopped you was your headlights are off." I was puzzled because as far as I knew they were on. As I said I even pointed to my dash showing the lights ON.

She never said anything about the seatbelt until she returned and said I was being sited for no headlights on and no seatbelt.

You seem to be going out of your way to defend the officer for what seems to me to have been enforcing a heavy hand of the law TexKan? Friend of yours?

As far as the seatbelt it was a very stupid mistake on my part and I deserve a ticket. I just felt a warning would have more appropriate for the no headlights under the circumstance, and felt their was another motive alone with the extremely happy attitude.

Now with that being said. If I had to be pulled over I would prefer it by someone like her. She was very pleasant and polite. I could tell she was enjoying her job. At least at that moment.

You should know by now that TexKan will always side with Police Officers. She thinks that Police Officers can do no wrong.

I think she may have a police officer fetish....

Hey Bubba....your correct as well. There are a lot of agencies that do issue written warnings but we do not. Some even keep track of the written warnings issued and is used against you if you get pulled over again. Like Radio said, its all up to the officers discretion. Some will write for it, some will warn. I think over all, it is always safer to make sure your lights are on when the time or elements are questionable...can't hurt.

Go to the weather station at the airport, and have them give you a print out of the visibility readings for the exact time of day. Compare that report to the local ordinance that covers when lights are required. I know several people who were ticketed recently, they had their tickets set aside, adding that the police officer was having a bad day. If you have to have your lights on when the windshield wipers are on, does that mean to have wipers on, when the lights are on? Darn, everyone has to fight crime when we see it.

Hehe I didn't know you were from a family of officers. I myself tend to lean toward the officers myself from having family on the force. I don't dispute the seatbelt ticket, I was WRONG. My wife bitches at me all the time if I don't put on my belt before moving the car. I have a habit of putting my seatbelt on after I start moving the car. I think it stems from the days when many cars had no seatbelt. I saw the officer behind me just as I was about to put on my belt. I didn't go ahead and put it on because I didn't want the officer to see I didn't have it on. How ironic!

I guess it was just the luck of the draw. The city sure could make a bundle on enforcing that law this morning. I couldn't throw a rock without hitting a car with no lights on. I just a warning would have been more proper for an offense you didn't even know you were committing.

I still think there was more behind that smile than a pleasant officer.

Well I didn't realize you didn't know my family of cops........... hell I was a jail nurse plus bein X military as well so we are sll kinda matter of fact folks. I do know they have the power and that makes some just angry. I have gooten tickets in Dodge too. I just paid it and went on - I was speeding but didn't realize it till I saw the unit and looked at the speedometer...... the rest is history.

I will try to be more sympathetic but ya can see how I would lean toward cops. Altho there are some cops that let thier personal opinion get in the way. I think most are trained not to do that - but we are all human! Good luck with the ticket and I think as clear as it was (fog wise) that ya propable might have a chance of havin it thrown out. I think Booger has a good idea there. But fog can be different just one block away - it's worth a try tho - I think your pictures with the time stamp is a better chance than what was goin on at the airport at the same time. The more foundation you have for your stance the better and we all should utilize our day in court if we feel the need. I didn't cause I knew I was guilty - so I paid the ticket that afternoon. Course if I felt I was wronged I woulda argued till they cited me for contempt and spent some time in lock down cause of my attitude! Best to ya!
