I guess it could be a safety issue if the officer is too close to the road, but that is usually not the issue. He might have been using the phone or looking something up. As far as the orange stickers go, we dont put them on a vehicle unless it meets certain criteria: abandoned, broken windows, flat tires, exp. registration., blocking traffic or roadway, blocking alley, etc. If it is left on a highway, most likely it is broke down or abandoned. I am not sure what the KHP or SO does, but that is how it is done in the city. We give you 48 hours to move it. The time the sticker is put on is recorded by dispatch - 48 from then...This has helped us clean a lot of crap off the streets. Hope that helps!

Vin

I'm sure dispatch would know what he was doin out there - my guess is he was doin his job. There's lots of times I don't look so busy - but I'm still doin my job.

Course we all know I am biased - I don't deny it......... I'm just thinkin it's far better to see officers than never see them no matter what they are doin - sometimes it's just a "presence".

Btween Copeland and Sublette, they do this all the time. 3 - 4 in the morning. The good ole boys have a meeting spot where they sit without lights just over the track to the north. You can see headlight/taillights and such for miles. Of course you don't see em until you are right up on them. Sometimes they would turn overheads on as you went by, to scare the $h_t out of you. I could sware I even heard them laughing.

We always called that the "Senic Phew"

State Trooper backs into the farm field drive just on the other side of my house. It is just over the top of a hill - BAM~! He just picks them off - no way to see him (sometimes her) until it is waaay to late.
