Police in the dark

I don't know if it is legal, or if there is anything about it. How is it safe for police to set out on county roads, highways at night in the dark with out any lights on at all? Just setting off the side of the roads. I have seen this done in a lot of counties. Are they that bored that they have to try can hide to catch people speeding or what? I didn't get stopped. I just found it a little unsafe to be setting on the side of the road at night in the dark. I know people do it all the time when they break down, but I am sure they would not want to be setting there in the dark. Also don't the police stop and put a nice big orange sticker on your car for setting on the side of the road? It says you have 72 hours to move it or something like that. So how is it they can stop and put a sticker on your car when they are doing the samething? It don't matter if the car was there all day or 5 min. they are going to put a sticker on it. So if they are on the side of the road for a little while do they get a sticker? NO!

The difference between "attended" and "unattended".......that's my guess.

It's a safety issue..
Sumptimes it's easier to pull over than eat a jelly donut while zipping along at 90 m.p.h.

You would be surprised what you can see at night, in the dark, just sitting there! However, normally the unit is pulled off at a side road intersection, not sitting on the highway itself.

This one was setting on a spot where a farmer goes into his field. Just off the shoulder of the road.

Several years ago, alot of burglary and vandalism problems were solved just this very way! Also, some drug exchanges. Throw in some night vision scopes, and it gets even better.

Good point! I also know they catch poachers doing this. But this one was setting just East of the airport on the bypass, just on the Northside of the road. Not going to catch anyone doing the things you talked about out there. Nothing there.

There used to be some drug deals at that overlook, if that's where you are talking about. Of course, could be like Spike said, maybe he was "playing with his donut"!!
