| Good Lord - This is a disaster scene - folks there don't have jobs, houses, or any resemblance of what you obviously take for granted. Show some respect to this thread and leave your politics in your cozy warm home. The folks of Greensburg aren't so fortunate to worry bout whos' commin and why. Truth is it's about them not politics. Not everythig is republican or democrat. Ya'll need to grow up

| President in Greensburg I believe it was Wichita that he flew into. They took Choppers to Greensburg and landed at that little airstrip on the east side of town. It was pretty cool watching the choppers land and take off. They had 2 Presidentials and 4 Blackhawks escorting. He stayed in Greensburg for about 3 hours. I saw him at his last stop where I was working crowd security. A lot of us from the PD have been there all week working. It has been a great opportunity to help out. I have really enjoyed it. I just wish I could do more. I took some pics of "GWB". I'll try to attach one. He was friendly. Took some pics, shooks some hands, and spoke to FEMA for awhile. Tons of secret service around. It was a good day. See ya! Vin ![]()

| All the pics and tv coverage do no justice to what the devastation is really like. I was there about 2 hours after the tornado hit. Because it was dark, you couldn't quite catch a glimpse of everything. When the sun came up that morning, everyone had a different perspective. It was indescribable. I still cant believe there was not hundreds dead. Thank God for the early warning. I talked to a lot of Greensburg citizens who said they were able to go to a neighbors house that had a basement or a storm shelter. Some of the houses had nothing left even in the basements. I have never witnessed anything like this in my life. I gues the good thing about George coming to visit, is that he got an actual look at what happened instead of relying on the news and paper. I really think Greensburg will get substantial help and Federal funding, because he now knows the severity of it. Lets hope anyway... Here is another pic!

| Even tho there is much devistation - isn't it amazing how the older buildings hold up better than the newer ones. That looks like a 1960's or so motel - with the concrete / stucco outter and block glass.............. amazing there is still desks and such sittin in the rooms and the walls (some) are still up. Course with tornadoes............ there's no rhyme or reason.

| The west side of Greensburg, from my stand point, (which doesn't mount a whole lot,) seemed to be damaged more than the far east side of town. My group was stationed on the east side of town so I didn't get to see the any of the west except when we were leaving town. The motel on the west is no more but the motel on the east is still standing minus the Kansas Inn. I agree with Vinnie, no pictures, videos or even words can not describe the devastation that is town has seen. Because during that night, all you can see, were the red, blue, white and amber lights of emergency vehicles and the bright spot lights that were brought in. The devastation was hidden under the cloak of dark and the dawns light showed the reality of the destruction. Like I've stated in my previous post, words can't express the raw emotions that these families must feel and my heart aches for them. |

| I think that was Bill Clinton. Oh, wait, is "get a haircut" the Secret Service code for a Presidential hummer? "Just a little off the top, please. I mean, ON the top." ![]() |
