Just horrible

Yahoo is reporting 6 dead now in Greensburg and 1 in Stafford with many still unaccounted for. I hope the unaccounted for are ok or already in the hospital. I have some friends who live in that area, what a tragedy.

Officers from Dodge City just got back to town a little bit ago. I cant even begin to discribe the destruction Ive witnessed. You see this on TV, not in real life.

Walking through what was left of the town, knee deep water, searching for folks that were trapped. Its been a long night and some of us expect to head back later today.

Any picture you see on TV does not do what I have seen justice.

It's tragedies like this that pull us together and bring the best out of our fellow man.

We support our DCPD/FOSO in the help they are lending our neigbors over in Greensburg and are proud of the job you guys are doing.

I still have 5 bedrooms, and a camper if anyone needs a place to sleep.

The death toll has been rising all morning as they find more casualties. It's up to like 11 now.

My prayers go out to all of those in Greensburg and the surrounding towns that were hit by this tornado.

Many many very sad stories. My uncle and family lost it all. They went to the next door neighbors house to take cover and when they came out their house and cars were gone. Nothing but the cloths on their back. Just one of many tragic stories.

He told me the sound was just as people say, like a freight train. Their ears popped and their hair stood on end as though there was electricity in the air. Everything west in Main Street is pretty much gone. Dogs and cats roaming the streets lost as well as some farm animals.

Just as LordFoulsBane said I've talked with a few that have been through tornadoes but they say they have never seen anything like this before.

I just heard a report that a tornado warning is in effect and everyone has either left Greensburg or hunkered down in the basement of the courthouse.

I have been watching this as well on CNN - I know I have been thru Greensburg hundreds of times and for the life of me I can't find one thing on the TV that looks familiar. No landmark I can identify. I think I saw the highway but not even sure bout that. Such a sad thing. Looks like everyone just pulled together tho to help - looks like KS is really on top of the situation. With more storms comming I can't imagine the terror these folks must be feeling. God speed to all.
