Speaking of animals in the street, particularly dogs, I had a frustrating occurence yesterday evening about 6pm.

I pulled out of my driveway and started moving off. My speed was up to about 25mph (about 6-7 houses away from mine) when this dog just ran out from behind a car right in front of me. I braked hard (tires squealed) and pulled my car to the left and into the kerb so as not to hit the dog, which of course just kept running across the street and into a neighbors yard.

So, shaking my head but thankful that the dog was ok, I put my car in reverse and start backing away from the kerb to get underway again when I see the dog's owner sitting in her front yard.

"Why don't you watch where you are going?" she says to me.

I was speechless for a few seconds, but thought better than to get into an argument so just carried on about my business.

I would have pulled over and called the animal control person.

I would still do it today - they can follow up on a report of a loose dog whether it was today or yesterday - especially if that dog almost caused an accident because the owner wasn't following the city ordinances.

and then I'd go get the wheels on my car re-aligned. Those curbs ain't very forgiving after all.

Wouldn't have done any good. He probably doesn't have any license or insurance!!
