| I heard there was going to be a variety show in Wright park along with the Cowboy Band. That's earlier in the evening, but I don't know times. There is a break after it's over, and the fireworks start at the Civic Center at 10, like every year. I hope it's as long as usual. I heard they haven't raised all the money they need for the fireworks. Anybody know where to donate? |

| Perhaps they could draw from the WHY not Dodge fund? LOL

| I believe the reason behind the banning fireworks in the Civic Center and middle school parking lot is for safety reasons. Tons of people pack in there with kids and adults, and it isnt exactly safe for some of these fireworks to be set off anywhere near a crowd of people. Also, please remember that there is to be no setting off of fireworks on any city property...including the streets! It is a shame to drive around town (or after the Civic Center empties, in the parking lot) and seeing the trash left by all the fireworks. Sure, I could see a little bit of paper blowing out into the street inadvertantly. But, I remember driving down Third last year about 1 AM July 5th and having to swerve around all the piles of firework debris left in the road. If everyone picked up after themselves, Dodge would be a nicer to place to live in! |

The key to having people pick up their stuff and not shoot the fireworks on city property is ENFORCE it. The very first day start writing tickets and let the word get out. That will help.

| The local firework$ ordinance must not gather the money as effectively as construction $peeder$.... or donuts are now being ingested aurally.

| Wait...first a warning, then a ticket? Are you kidding me? So, you can shoot off fireworks any time, any day until you get caught once (warning) - which will take some time. Then you can go about your merry business doing it again until they catch you a second time (ticket)? Really? There's no teeth in this ordinance. Why do they expect people to abide by it? How funny.
