Did anyone see the article in the globe yesterday about the packing plants and how they claim to work very hard to ensure that they are not hiring illegals and how they have been doing so since before the Feds decided to get tough on this issue? What a bunch of crap! If this were truly the case then the recent situation that occurred at Cargil would not have taken place to begin with. Just my 2 cents.

Look I was born and raised in DC. I lived there 38 years and if I want to "bag" on the town I have that right. I had to put up with alot of bullshit so don't even go there with me. You or Sherry. I am not bagging on any people, just the town. There is a difference. It's ok for all of you to bag on it, why can't I? Because I don't live there anymore? Wrong. I have lots of family that still do. Sherry, are you even from DC? How old are you? Anyways there you have your answer. Are you happy?

I think it's more your "I'm superior to the rest of you" attitiude that pisses them off. You continually present yourself as better than anyone who's "stupid enough" to still live in Dodge.

I'd be willing to bet that if the details of the "bullshit" you put up with were known we'd see that you were a big part of your own problems.

Life is what you make it and that includes where you live. I've found that people who complain about beig bored or that there's nothing to do where they live are just lazy. They expect someone to take responsibility for their entertainment rather than doing something about it themselves.

But that's just how I see it from the sidelines.

I think that's a very GREAT analogy Wordy. While the quality of life here sucks it would sucketh MORE for someone that was "in the system" because of his or her own doings....

Very nicely put, Wordy!! I lived in DC for 10 yrs and really enjoyed it. That being said, I did not believe in everything that went on. I still consider myself part of this town. I only live 20 miles away.

Uh, no. Why and how would that make me happy? I still don't understand. I'm sorry you had to put up with a lot of bullshit but I just don't understand why you would want to come here for the sole purpose of bitterness? I could be wrong but from your answer you seem really bitter. Why keep coming here to a place that reminds you so much about the bullshit you had to endure. Why not just move on? Do you have the right to come here? Yes. Do you have the right to slam Dodge? Okay, sure. Why you would want to is my real question.

I don't live in Dodge either and in fact haven't for going on 6 years but my close family and many close friends still live there and have in fact *gasp* carved out a great little life for themselves. Just because it wasn't right for you doesn't exactly mean that it can't be done. I encourage them to stay there because they are happy. I encourage them to stay there because it is working for them. I would also encourage them if they decided to move because, hey, I'm an encourager. I support those that I love and admire and assume that they aren't idiots who can't even pick the right place to live.

So, no, I'm not happy. I'm not happy you had a bad experience and I'm not happy that people come here to push down on a town that really, really needs people to help pull it up. I don't know. I just feel in my heart that it isn't the end for Dodge and that it will be a beacon of society in due time but running from the town in droves isn't going to make it happen.
