You preach on, Spike!

He is exactly right. It isnt a victimless crime...it is an officer safety issue. Plus, if you think about it, it makes it harder to see at night. Try putting on your sunglasses and driving around town after dark - same idea.

Highway patrol should enforce window tint more, because their safety is even more in question than city cops. Inside the city limits, we have street lights. Next time the power goes out in the middle of the night, step outside and see what it looks like. Those street lights make a HUGE difference. This gives you and adequate view as to what a trooper has to deal with when out on a quiet road in the county with no street lights.

And I though it was just because cops were paranoid that we were flipping them off behind the window tint.

I used to be a cop, but do not remember what the law says about tint %. Another reason the the Highway Patrol enforces it more is they are more of a traffic cop and there back up may be 15 to 20 miles away. City cops have back up right around the corner and do more then just stop cars. I was a city cop and don't remember ever writing a ticket for to dark of tint but I did check it several times. A easy way for you to check your own tint is to hold your driver license up to the glass and if you can read it clearly and easily you SHOULD be fine. I understand that it is a safety issue for officers, but to me it is a BS ticket kinda like writing one for having your tag light out.
