Tonite I was watching the History channel. They were showing a doc. called gangland and it was zeroing in on the gang MS13. I had to turn the t.v. off because I was getting really upset with what I was seeing.

This gang has been in Dodge for some time now, and it seems very little is really getting done to stop them. I kept thinking ...where are the parents? ...where are our neighbors?...these little punks think they can intimidate me?...well bring it on! ...where is our city commission? These gangs are often composed of illegals. What is our city doing to stop it? I'm sick of these little gang bangers littering our community with their presence.

It's time to put into place some laws with real teeth and have a commission that will back our P.D. with financing for equipment and whatever else is needed to get the illegals and gangbangers out of Dodge!

In my opinion, we have a great community and it can get better when the trash is taken out!

I couldn't agree more but there are a few obstacles. Here are the issues I think we have with cracking down on gangs.

1. A lot of the gang activity are probaby misdemeanor crimes so no big deal to them.
2. I would assume from your post that many of the gang members are illegals with parents tied to the packing plants. We have learned already from the no drivers license situation that our commissioners will not target any type of crime that may be perceived as going after illegals. (we don't want Dodge to have the repuatation as tough on illegal immigration)
3. Our city is doing very little to stop gang crime at least if they are it doesn't make the news. It's a shame people don't care enough to have some type of neighborhood watch and report any and all gang activity.

They are becoming more brazen as time goes by. Gangs are all over the mall on the weekends and that will eventually drive customers away. If our commissioners were leaders they would address this asap but the thing is we can't make our city safer for the tax paying citizens by arresting some illegals...that isn't the type of image Dodge wants to portray.

The M-13's is considered the most dangerous gang in the US today. They will kill you and they do not care. They supposenly took on the Mexican Mafia and won. Look Mike, I am serious when I say this....do not taunt them because they will act. No doubt in my mind about that. Once a person joins they cannot leave. Other gangs you can get jumped out of, not this one, You die.

YES they are! I have a friend that works at National and he has reassured me that their territory there has been marked!

I would not count on THIS commission. Although they may appear to be friendly with the P.D. most are very anti F.O.P.

Our best hope is that we as a community can stand together and look out for each other...care about each other...and stand up to be counted when someone needs help!

I am not really a union supporter myself...but the fop has done some good, here in Dodge, for our officers.

That's what I was thinking...if they are afraid of hurting someone's ethnic feelings by making our streets safer to drive on I can't imagine what it would take to go after a Hispanic gang....ugh.

It's sad that the hard working, tax paying citizens of Dodge City can't get those elected by the same people to look out for those people. It doesn't make sense.
