My thought as well. What would be gained by giving a false confession. He's a police officer, for God's sake! He knows (or should have known) the repercussions associated with the statement he made. I guess I would have to fault the defense if what you're saying is true. Why did the defense not test the gun and enter testimony about that?

The KBI and whomever else you want to blame about Chris being convicted aren't the ones to blame. They only acted on what they found. If it's not true, why wasn't that proven?

The whole "going home and dressing in black" thing... Seems to me like it was premeditated. Or at the very least, why he (the DA) didn't 'settle' for life in exchange for a guilty plea.

Anyone who describes a murder they perpatrated, EVEN under durress, is guilty. Seldom are we so lucky as to have a video tape of the crime. I know it is hard for you to accept and I would probably do the same thing you are doing if this was a friend/loved one of mine. Hopefully in time, you can come to accept what has happened, and the truth about Chris.

It's not capital murder in this case, even if it was premeditated. You have to have an aggravating factor present per the statute below:

Chapter 21.--CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS PART II.--PROHIBITED CONDUCT Article 34.--CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS
21-3439. Capital murder. (a) Capital murder is the:
(1) Intentional and premeditated killing of any person in the commission of kidnapping, as defined in K.S.A. 21-3420 and amendments thereto, or aggravated kidnapping, as defined in K.S.A. 21-3421 and amendments thereto, when the kidnapping or aggravated kidnapping was committed with the intent to hold such person for ransom;
(2) intentional and premeditated killing of any person pursuant to a contract or agreement to kill such person or being a party to the contract or agreement pursuant to which such person is killed;
(3) intentional and premeditated killing of any person by an inmate or prisoner confined in a state correctional institution, community correctional institution or jail or while in the custody of an officer or employee of a state correctional institution, community correctional institution or jail;

You have convicted a man solely on a statement in a time of duress.
You had no evidence to support your claims that Chris Tahah was at Erin Jones’ house the morning of May 5th.

At least twice Agent Larue was asked if there was any evidence that Chris Tahah could be linked to the death of Erin Jones.

In fact, during the whole trial, of all the bags of evidence the prosecution had, not one item was linked to Chris Tahah and to the death of Erin Jones.
All the evidence seized was explained to be linked purely by the speculation and imagination of the KBI and the DA.

They didn’t establish a time of death.
They didn’t prove that the gun used was in fact a .270 rifle.
They didn’t prove that the bullet was a round fired by a .270 rifle.

The only thing they proved that was that Chris Tahah was an emotional wreck after learning of the death of Erin Jones.
You can say all you want of the so called confession, but confessions are made all the time to law enforcement. Then it’s up to law enforcement to sift through the evidence to see if what the confessor said lines up with the evidence. KBI dropped the ball on this part.

Go back to the postings on the monday after this happened. A few of you were talking about a shooting. The KBI said they didn't tell anyone that she had been shot until Chris confessed to it.

If word hadn't gotten out then how did some of you know that there had been a shooting.

Do you not think that Chris had friends that could have said something about her being killed by a gun shot wound the head before they questioned him again on Monday?

You people keep saying that his mom and dad need to wake! I think some of you need to wake up.
